Start your career as an intern in the Internal Control Compliance team at KLM

What will you do?

As an intern in the Internal Control Compliance team, you will play a role in ensuring an effective internal control environment within AirFrance-KLM. You will be involved in the complete and timely execution of the Internal Control Framework and actively contribute to projects, procedures, and improvements to systems and processes. Your tasks include:

  • Authorizing vendor requests based on submitted data.
  • Contributing to the optimization of our internal control documentation system.
  • Assisting with the implementation of a vendor verification system.
  • Brainstorming to optimize various processes.
  • Supporting ongoing projects.

You will be jointly responsible for collecting data from various clusters and act as the primary point of contact for both Internal Audit and the External Auditor.

Where do you land?

Your workplace is at the FAS NL department: Finance Accounting Services Netherlands, located in building 102 at Schiphol-East. Here, you will work together with around 60 colleagues on the accounting processes of KLM and parts of Air France-KLM. The atmosphere is informal and collegial, with open communication and little hierarchy. You will be part of the Quality & Internal Control team.

FAS NL works according to a hybrid model, meaning you will work both from home and in the office.

Your profile

You will interact with various AFKL colleagues, analysts, and processes, but you know how to keep an overview. Accuracy and numerical insight are among your strengths. Furthermore:

  • You are pursuing a higher professional (HBO) degree in a financial field.
  • You have knowledge of Lean and process optimization.
  • You have an interest in internal control, risk, and fraud management.
  • You speak and write Dutch and English fluently.
  • You are available for 4 to 5 days per week, preferably starting mid-January for 6 months (a later start is negotiable).

What do we offer

KLM offers you a highly instructive experience in a dynamic organisation in which you will play an important role. You can develop yourself considerably during this internship, both personally and professionally. In addition, this internship offers you the opportunity to build up your network, as you will be working with many different KLM employees!

Another advantage of a internship at KLM is the KLM Taxibaan association run by and for interns. This association expands your network and organises fun events and interesting excursions within the KLM organisation. There is also a internship allowance.

During the busy period last year I helped in the operation. The passion and knowledge of colleagues there is really nice to see!
