Join ASML’s Mechanical Engineering Team: Internship Opportunity

Introduction

Our Mechanical Engineering team ensures that ASML machines operate reliably in demanding environments. Optical fibers inside these machines are fragile and need protection against damage and external influences. Protective hoses, also called jacketing, play a key role in this process. Currently, there is no clear guideline on which hose types to use in different situations. During this internship, you will help create clarity and improve reliability across ASML systems.

Your assignment

You will research protective hose solutions and develop a proposal for their use within ASML. This includes analyzing current practices, exploring external options, and defining critical parameters for selection. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Investigate which protective hoses are currently used within ASML.
  • Research available hose types, suppliers, and best practices outside ASML.
  • Define critical parameters and use cases for protective hoses (e.g., twisting, strain limitation).
  • Compare and evaluate options based on defined parameters.
  • Develop a proposal for hose selection for different situations at ASML.
  • Document findings and recommendations in a clear, structured report.

Impact on Cost of Goods

This is a bachelor’s or master’s internship for a minimum of 3 months, with at least 3 days per week on-site. The start date of this internship is February 2026.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Have analytical skills and enjoy investigating technical solutions.
  • Are proactive and able to work independently.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.
  • Have an interest in mechanical design.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
