Introduction

Join the Metrology department at ASML, where we develop software that ensures nanometer-level precision in chip manufacturing. Our Wafer Alignment team focuses on modeling physical imperfections so that every chip layer fits perfectly. For this internship, you will help us improve software quality by analyzing how code changes impact functionality. Your work will support engineers in detecting potential defects earlier and reducing quality risks.

Your assignment

You will explore our code base to identify use cases linked to changes introduced by engineers. This insight will help improve the software development cycle and enhance quality control. Your main tasks will include:

  • Analyze the existing software architecture and development process.
  • Review code structure, interfaces, and dependencies.
  • Gather requirements for new tools to track code impact.
  • Design and implement solutions based on collected requirements.
  • Validate tools using different data sets.
  • Document findings and share recommendations with the team.

This is a bachelor or master internship for a minimum of 4 months, at least 5 days per week (with at least 3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is February 2026.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or software engineering.
  • Have hands-on experience with Python programming.
  • Experience with AI is a plus.
  • Are analytical and eager to understand complex software systems.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with a strong focus on software quality.

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship.
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. If you are currently living or studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter should include your willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen studying in the Netherlands, your university must be willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
