About Us:

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world.

Role Overview:

At Booking.com, consistency, accessibility, and inclusivity are core to how we craft our traveler experience. The UI Standards team defines the principles and guardrails that ensure every traveler can navigate our app with clarity, confidence, and ease.

We focus on three key pillars:

  1. Defining standards – establishing accessibility, semantic correctness, and inclusive design best practices across platforms.
  2. Enabling adoption – building the tooling, libraries, and automation platforms that make these standards easy to integrate for all product teams.
  3. Ensuring governance – creating observability and monitoring mechanisms that track adherence and support continuous improvement.

As an Android Engineer in the UI Standards team, you’ll contribute to building and scaling these foundations. You’ll collaborate with designers, UX researchers, and technical writers to translate inclusive design principles into high-quality, reusable Android components and developer-facing tools that empower teams to deliver a consistent and delightful traveler experience.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and maintain Android libraries, SDKs, and tooling that promote accessibility, consistency, and design alignment across Booking.com’s mobile ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary partners — including Design Systems, UX, Research, and Accessibility — to translate inclusive design standards into practical developer solutions.
  • Implement automation, CI/CD checks, and linting or testing tools that detect and enforce UI standards across teams.
  • Contribute to defining, testing, and scaling new patterns and components that improve app-wide usability and semantic correctness.
  • Partner with product teams to drive adoption of standards and gather feedback to evolve the framework.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, documentation, and knowledge sharing to help other developers build consistent experiences.
  • Engage in continuous improvement through A/B testing, experimentation, and performance optimizations that balance user delight with accessibility compliance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Android application development using Android SDK.
  • Strong interaction and design sense with excellent attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated to explore new technologies, applications, and environments; a self-starter who is highly motivated and a team player.
  • Experience with the Android Marketplace and Distribution Process, including having an approved Play Store app.
  • Knowledge of SQL or willingness to learn, experience with A/B testing, passion for open source contributions, and a curiosity for technological innovations and latest trends.

Benefits & Perks - Global Impact, Personal Relevance:

  • Annual paid time off and generous paid leave scheme including: parent, grandparent, bereavement, and care leave
  • Hybrid working including flexible working arrangements, and up to 20 days per year working from abroad (home country)
  • Industry leading product discounts - up to 1400 per year - for yourself, including automatic Genius Level 3 status and Booking.com wallet credit

Pre-Employment Screening:

If your application is successful, your personal data may be used for a pre-employment screening check by a third party as permitted by applicable law. Depending on the vacancy and applicable law, a pre-employment screening may include employment history, education and other information (such as media information) that may be necessary for determining your qualifications and suitability for the position.
