About the team: ADS Cloud & Database Services

With over 1.6 million room nights booked every day, data is the backbone of everything we do. The Application Data Services department provides world-class database and streaming solutions, both on-premise and on public cloud, to our infrastructure and product development teams. We provide secure, reliable, and scalable data transport and storage for critical business and infrastructure services. Our current data services leverage technologies such as MySQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Confluent and Elasticsearch, with plans to expand into complementary cloud database solutions.

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead the critical area of Cloud & Database Services, overseeing both on-premise data platforms (e.g., MySQL, Cassandra) and cloud-native platforms (e.g. Amazon RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB), as well as the suite of tooling, Infrastructure as Code templates, and services for security, scalability, compliance, and governance on top of these platforms.

This role will be instrumental in driving Booking.com’s data and modernization journey—enabling scalability, privacy, compliance, and governance while empowering teams to move faster and innovate with confidence.

Role Description: A Group Product Manager leverages strengths in product craft as well as their experience managing other PMs and leading others to inspire and lead multiple cross-functional product development teams.

As a Group Product Manager at Booking.com, you will define product strategy and roadmap, lead a team of product managers across multiple closely coupled initiatives, and individually contribute to execute key projects. You will translate business needs into product roadmaps that incorporate appropriate qualitative and quantitative research and stakeholder input. To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about insights drawn from data, able to craft a vision, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Influence decision-making at all levels of the company. Define product strategy and a multi-year roadmap for data storage platforms for both structured and unstructured data, balancing innovation with resilience, cost efficiency, and compliance.
  • Lead a team of Product Managers and partner closely with engineering, security, and compliance teams to deliver robust infrastructure and services.
  • Own a suite of tooling, integrations, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates that enable scalability, reliability, and governance for data at Booking.com.
  • Drive adoption of managed cloud services, ensuring smooth migration journeys and establishing a “shift left” approach to governance and quality.
  • Translate business and developer needs into product initiatives, using qualitative insights, quantitative data, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Evangelize modern data practices across Booking.com, ensuring teams understand how to best leverage ADS services.
  • Define clear success metrics and track them regularly to ensure services are reliable, cost-effective, and meeting customer needs.
  • Collaborate across departments to align data infrastructure with broader company priorities.
  • Coach and grow Product Managers, ensuring excellence in product craft and leadership across your domain.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • 6 - 9 years of directly applicable internet product management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in a relevant field is highly desired.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of successfully managing and mentoring a team of product managers as direct reports.
  • Strong experience in data storage, cloud platforms, or infrastructure services at scale (MySQL, RDS, Aurora, Cassandra, DynamoDB, etc.).
  • Experience managing various types of resources, making trade-offs, and prioritizing as if managing your own business. P&L experience is a plus.
  • Creativity and curiosity—a creative problem solver with a deep curiosity about our business and product.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to communicate efficiently both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from senior leadership to individual project members. Able to write clear and concise product requirements, status updates, and product results.
  • Strong analytical skills—able to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend effective action plans to resolve issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills—responsible for ensuring multiple projects are completed in an appropriate and timely manner. Experience with agile methodologies is highly preferred.
