Contribute to the Execution of Offshore Grid Connection Systems at TenneT

As Sub Project Lead Auxiliary for our 2GW HVDC projects, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical design, quality, and schedule for the auxiliary installation during the construction phase. Together with your team, you will work on innovative solutions that contribute to a stable and sustainable electricity grid.
About the Role
As Sub Project Lead Auxiliary for our 2 GW Construction Phase, you will play a key role in overseeing and coordinating auxiliary systems within a large-scale renewable energy project. You will oversee the execution phase of building the 2GW platform, ensuring all aspects of auxiliary systems meet the technical requirements during construction. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of project milestones, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the construction phase. The location will be at the shipyard/construction site in Batam, with the first 3-6 months based in Arnhem, The Netherlands before moving to Batam on a residential basis.
Your Role & Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the auxiliary systems scope within the 2 GW construction project.
- Coordinating activities with internal and external technical specialists, ensuring compliance with contracts and standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of auxiliary systems.
- Monitoring interface processing between sub-project leads, technical specialists, and other stakeholders.
- Managing progress, quality control, and interface coordination.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and evaluate decision proposals for technical questions and non-performance reports.
- Ensure the functional readiness of factory acceptance tests (FAT’s) and system integration of all resources, components, and systems in the field of responsibility.
- Supervise inspections of cooling & seawater systems, drainage, oil leakage, power generation, cranes, and sewer systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and monitor the contractor’s adherence to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support procurement, manage all technical project management-related activities, and assist with risk and contract management, including review of documentation and lead technical decision-making.
- Support the resolution of technical issues and interface with contractors and suppliers as required.
- Lessons learned for continuous improvement and the coordination of assigned contractors and internal stakeholders.
This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills.
Your Profile & Background / Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant professional experience in technical project management (minimum of 5 years) within large-scale construction or energy projects, and a high level of mobility.
- Advanced professional experience in mechanical engineering and auxiliary systems, with a strong understanding of auxiliary systems in renewable energy or similar industries.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, a high level of assertiveness and independence, and excellent leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), strong in structured working methods.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electro-technical or mechanical engineering or a comparable field. In possession of a driver’s license.
- Experience in managing the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and auxiliary systems, including cooling systems, power generation, and cranes.
- Fluency in English is required for this position, both written and spoken. Additional European languages are an advantage. Job interviews for this position will be (partly) in English. Please send us your application document in English as well.
