We are building a new Strategy & Support Team within NL Life & Pensions, reporting directly to the CEO. This team plays a central role in shaping and driving our long-term strategic agenda. As Strategic Programme Manager, you will be the linking pin between strategic ambitions and execution.

In this role, you will not only lead the process for managing our strategic project portfolio but also ensure that the Management Team (MT) of NL&P has the right information, insights, and perspectives to make well-informed strategic decisions. You will translate external and internal developments into strategic implications, identify opportunities for growth and innovation, and help the MT define and deliver the long-term strategy for NL&P. This is a high-impact position with direct visibility at the CEO and MT level, offering the chance to influence the direction of our business.

What you are going to do

  • Strategic information and advice: Provide the MT with clear and actionable strategic information and advice. Identify and assess emerging market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics, and incorporate external perspectives into the NL&P strategic agenda. Translate internal and external developments into clear dashboards and management information and advice.
  • Long-term strategy and innovation: Support the MT in defining, shaping, and executing the long-term strategy. Drive the development of new initiatives and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Strategic project and portfolio management: Maintain a comprehensive overview of the strategic projects across NL&P. Monitor progress on business cases and planning, manage interdependencies, and advise the MT on priorities and resource allocation.
  • Strategic product management: Drive product-level strategic decisions using metrics that measure returns, costs, and capital requirements. Analyse growth potential and strategic value, and advise the MT on growth choices, optimisation, or phase-out.
  • Stakeholder communication: Ensure strategic clarity and engagement. Assist in developing a compelling strategic narrative and align messaging across external and internal stakeholders.

What we offer you

  • Salary between €7,635 and €10,907 (based on 40 hours), depending on your knowledge and experience
  • 13th month and holiday allowance are paid with your monthly salary
  • 27 vacation days for a 5-day working week and one Diversity Day
  • A modern pension administered by BeFrank
  • Plenty of training and learning opportunities
  • NS Business Card 2nd class, which gives you unlimited travel, also privately. Prefer to travel with your own transport? You can declare the kilometers travelled
  • Allowances for setting up your home office and for internet use

Who you are

You are a strategic thinker with strong project and portfolio management skills, able to combine structure with vision. You can translate market (and regulatory) developments into clear implications for our business, advise senior leadership with impact, and spot opportunities for further growth and innovation.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience in strategy consulting, or proven expertise in developing and leading strategic programmes, preferably within financial services, insurance, or pensions
  • Strong analytical and advisory skills, with the ability to turn complex insights into clear recommendations, and proficient in reporting and presenting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence in engaging with the CEO and MT NL&P
  • Broad market orientation, with the ability to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and a proactive, collaborative, and hands-on mindset, comfortable at both strategic and operational levels
  • Fluent in English and preferably in Dutch

Who you will work with

As a Strategic Programme Manager, you will become part of the Strategy & Support team, which is positioned under the CEO of Netherlands Life and Pensions.
