How do you make our customers happy?

By cracking the ‘fair compensation’ code for 2,900 colleagues who serve 13.7 million customers and 47,000 partners. In an organization where no two roles are truly identical, yet everyone deserves equal opportunities. As our Compensation Expert, you translate market dynamics, internal equity, and evolving legislation into reward structures that attract and retain top talent. Do you view ‘fair pay’ as an abstract ideal or something you can encapsulate in workable policy? Do you have an innate talent for compensating all colleagues smartly and fairly? Do you love diving deep into data and benchmarks, but are you equally energized by discussing concrete policy improvements? And do you believe a paycheck is ‘just’ one way to express recognition? Welcome to the People& team!

The biggest challenge

Developing and implementing a compensation policy for an organization that changes faster than any market salary benchmark. How do you establish the correct salary for a role that doesn’t yet exist in the broader job market? How do you implement EU pay transparency legislation without sacrificing flexibility? And how do you assure the business of the added value of your decisions? Success requires balancing data-driven precision with a personal touch, deciding what’s strategically desirable, financially feasible, and ethically responsible. In short: delivering consistent customization in a constantly shifting context.

What you'll do as Compensation Expert

As a specialist on the Employee Benefits & Affairs team (5 experts), you take ownership of our primary employment terms. While your colleagues mainly zoom in on benefits and policies, you mainly delve into salary structures, benchmark analyses, and our compensation philosophy. You also have a talent for messaging. How can we best inform colleagues about their compensation? And you dive into an assortment of concrete questions. If we want to deploy a colleague abroad; what compensation, contract, and other employment issues do we need to address? Other topics, such as fiscal regulation compliance, are also in scope. Can you work out the specifics?

You develop compensation frameworks with your team that facilitate strategic growth and ensure demonstrable compliance with all relevant legislation. From implementing equal pay to establishing pay grades for our growing international population – you run with these topics and make our compensation package competitive and compliant. You apply your analytical skills to convert market data, internal pay equity analyses, and trend research into concrete policy proposals that you present to stakeholders.

Main responsibilities:

  • Developing and improving compensation frameworks
  • Conducting market analyses and establishing real-time salary benchmarks
  • Participating in strategic projects, such as implementing EU pay transparency
  • Acting as a trusted advisor for People& teams and managers
  • Monitoring and helping translate new legislation into workable policy
  • Analyzing internal compensation data and proactively identifying bias
  • Representing the business in discussions with the works council on compensation-related topics
  • Creating clear communication about complex compensation topics
  • Sharing knowledge with direct colleagues to help everyone improve

Why you can make a difference

You combine HR experience (preferably with a compensation component) with the drive to explore largely uncharted territory. You don’t follow beaten paths but blaze new ones, using Excel and market data as a compass. You are interested in fiscal regulations, but understand that every line on the payroll is a real person with individual ambitions. You communicate in clear language, tackle issues proactively – even solo – and dare to make decisions when perfect data is lacking but quick decisions are needed.

  • - Execution automaton You patiently wait for detailed instructions to land on your desk – a sense of ownership is overrated
  • - Single-gear linguist Switching between Dutch and English exhausts you, as does working in an international context
  • - Superficial salary scanner Reading up on legislation or addressing compliance issues? Absolutely above your pay grade
  • + Human analyst You build compensation structures on solid data insights, but never forget that the human dimension makes the biggest difference
  • + Compliance crusader Regulations are not bureaucratic obstacles but building blocks for elegant solutions
  • + Army of one You tackle compensation issues with gusto and inspire others with your insights and powers of persuasion
