At Vanderlande, we specialize in designing and developing advanced material handling systems. Upon these material handling systems, various items are being transported with various dimensions. A module which is being used to transport and sort these items is the so called Posisorter.
This Posisorter currently has its limitations to what it can handle with regards to parcels dimensions. To improve our systems and facilitate business grow an investigation must be done to see what is needed to handle parcels with dimensions as small as 50mm x 50mm x 1mm.
Extensive research should be done on the parcels which need to be handled, preferably in a model as well in the physical world. This will involve studying the materials used for packaging, the weight of the parcels, and the surface properties of the conveyors and Posisorter which is transporting these parcels.
