Join Us as a Modelling Statistics Intern

Join us as a Modelling Statistics Intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht, starting in September 2025! In this internship, you will support the End-to-End Consumer Customer Insights team and use statistical methods to unleash possibilities in the world of coffee and tea — think predictive modelling, multivariate analysis — and join automation initiatives to optimize the process from data collection to analysis reporting.

  • Main activity: Work on a personal research project to create impact in the world of coffee and tea. 🌍 The topic will be confirmed within the first month of your placement, based on current R&D challenges and your personal development goals.
  • Extra activities: (depending on workload and your career development options)
  • 🧪 Support in designing experiments for various teams, including but not limited to product development, packaging and technology solutions.
  • 📈 Engage in statistical challenges brought by researchers in R&D to the Modelling and Statistics team.
  • 📊 Create impactful data visualizations to support hypotheses in R&D projects.
  • 🔍 Work with multiple data sources, combine them to perform modelling and data analysis, and detect opportunities for automation

Qualifications

  • Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • 🎓 Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Statistics, Data Science or Food Science/Technology with a background in statistics. Experience with R (or any coding), JMP or XLStat is preferred but not mandatory.
  • 💻 Skillset: You possess strong MS Office skills and are fluent in spoken and written English. Having some hands-on experience with food research activities is always a plus!
  • 🌟 Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • 📅 Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from September 1st to the end of February 2026.
  • 🏢 Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including four days in-office and one day remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence.

  • Your internship should be included in your study curriculum and directly contribute to your academic results.
  • Your educational institution must be willing to sign a collaboration agreement with JDE Peet's, and when joining our Research departments, also sign an NDA agreement for internships.
  • You are either an EU(EEA) student residing in the Netherlands during the internship, or a Non-EU(EEA) student enrolled and living in the Netherlands during the internship.
