Internship Opportunity at HEINEKEN: Warehouse/Material Handling Equipment Procurement

HEINEKEN is looking for you!

Heineken is a world-renowned Dutch beer brand that has been around for over 150 years. It was founded in 1864 by Gerard Adriaan Heineken in Amsterdam and has since become one of the largest and most popular beer brands in the world with presence in over 190 countries.

Every day we work with pride on our great products that you have certainly had in your hand at a party, during a work meeting or at home on the couch. HEINEKEN is much more than just beer. What about brands like Cristal Clear, Royal Club, Heineken 0.0, Amstel Radler and Birra Moretti. We actively work to create a pleasant work environment where everyone feels respected and has equal opportunities. Your personality, knowledge and skills are the success of our organization.

The internship

Imagine being part of the world’s most international brewer—where iconic brands flow across borders and continents, and where every bottle tells a story of precision, scale, and innovation. Behind the scenes of this global operation lies a complex and dynamic supply chain, and at its heart: warehousing and material handling equipment (MHE).

But here’s the twist—because we operate in so many different markets, our warehousing needs aren’t one-size-fits-all. They’re as diverse as the regions we serve. That’s where you come in.

As an intern in our HGP Logistics Procurement team, based at our Schiphol office, you’ll take on a mission: to bring clarity, consistency, and efficiency to how we source our warehouse equipment. You won’t just observe—you’ll lead a real project with real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dive into our data landscape. What do we already know? What’s missing? You’ll consult with internal stakeholders to map out the variables that matter.
  • Trace the paths of our current processes. Where is data captured? Where does it fall through the cracks? You’ll define a smart, scalable way to fill those gaps.
  • Design and deploy a solution that balances quality with practicality—something that works not just in theory, but in the real world of global logistics.

Throughout your internship, you’ll collaborate with a wide network of colleagues—from suppliers and operating companies to global functions. You’ll gain a deep understanding of our business, and you’ll be encouraged to bring your own ideas to the table. During your internship, you will get the opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as a company, also outside your department. We give you trust and freedom, so you can work like a real entrepreneur. We like to bring the outside world inside and therefore we embrace new, fresh ideas with enthusiasm. Of course, always with the guidance that is right for you.

The terms of employment

  • Preferred starting date is 1st September
  • The internship is fulltime (in consultation also 4 days a week possible)
  • The duration of the internship is 5/6 months (in consultation with your internship supervisor)
  • It is a practice-oriented internship
  • You will be based in Schiphol (close to Amsterdam)
  • You will receive an internship fee of €650 gross pm based on 40 hours per week
  • You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on fulltime)
  • If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

The start of your internship

Together with a diverse group of interns from different departments, you will start your internship at HEINEKEN. Together you will be introduced to the organization. Don’t miss the drinks on Thursday to relax with your colleagues over a beer and some snacks.

The unique you!

  • University Bachelor/Master students available min. 4 days a week.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Detail-oriented person with good analytical skills, the ability to keep a helicopter view while working with different kinds of data.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.

Conditions of HEINEKEN

  1. You are enrolled at an educational institution.
    1. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution, from which we receive proof of enrollment for the current academic year from you.
    2. In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
  2. Living in the Netherlands during internship (HEINEKEN does not facilitate housing).
