An interesting internship for an Automotive or Mechanical Engineering student to improve test quality and efficiency from the Product Development Vehicle Testing department

To improve test quality and efficiency the DAF Product Development (PD) Vehicle Testing department is using DAF TEST Standards as a guidance during specific vehicle tests. Policies within Product Development requiring standards to be updated regularly or to develop new standards if required.

The content of a standard is based on investigation into mainly the legislation. Therefor a close cooperation with the DAF PD Homologation department is important. Joining other multidisciplinary teams will also occur. After developing these DAF TEST Standards the DAF PD Vehicle Testing department is responsible for reviewing. This could mean that tests shall be performed as input for the review sessions.

An example of an assignment can be:

Develop DAF TEST Standards for ECE R13-14 Annex 13 Anti-lock Braking System

1. Phase 1: define what is required
2. Phase 2: develop a step-by-step procedure including data sheets and test automation into a DAF TEST Standard
3. Phase 3: validate the DAF TEST Standard by performing vehicle testing

Jouw profiel

• Currently pursuing an Automotive or Mechanical Engineering study
• Organized and structural working method
• Hands-on mentality
• Fluent in English
• Good MS Office skills

Since 1996, DAF is part of PACCAR, a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF trucks. PACCAR also provides financial services and information technology and distributes truck parts to its principal business.

The vehicle testing department within DAF, executes tests in the arias of functionality, durability and reliability. The chassis group within vehicle testing is focussed on functional testing of chassis mounted components, constructions and systems such as the steering system, brake system and vehicle lights.
