The Role
As a Principal Backend Engineer specializing in Integrations at Carv, you will be responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and evolution of integrations with a wide range of applicant tracking systems (ATS), VoIP providers, and other critical external platforms. You will architect solutions that enable our enterprise clients to achieve unprecedented levels of automation and data flow optimization, fundamentally transforming their recruitment processes.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives on solving complex data architecture challenges, designing for massive scale, and is driven to build robust, fault-tolerant integrations that define the automation capabilities of our platform.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Architecture & Strategy
- Architect and design enterprise-grade, scalable integrations with strategic third-party systems, including ATS, VoIP providers, and other mission-critical SaaS platforms.
- Develop and maintain advanced API and webhook architectures to support secure, high-volume data exchange.
- Lead the design and optimization of sophisticated data transformation processes, ensuring seamless data interoperability across diverse ecosystems.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and predictive error handling to proactively identify and resolve integration bottlenecks and anomalies.
Scalability, Reliability, and Performance
- Architect highly performant solutions to support extremely high-volume, low-latency data transfers and real-time synchronization for enterprise-level deployments.
- Lead the evolution of our integration infrastructure to support a rapidly expanding partner network and exponential data growth, enhancing scalability and resilience at a massive scale.
- Design and implement integration workflows within sophisticated containerized environments and microservices architectures.
- Leverage advanced Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, and serverless paradigms to build and scale complex, mission-critical integration services.
Automation, CI/CD, and Infrastructure
- Establish and optimize sophisticated CI/CD pipelines for fully automated integration deployments, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of enterprise-level updates.
- Champion and enforce infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices to automate and standardize complex infrastructure provisioning for integrations.
- Develop and manage advanced observability and logging systems to provide deep insights into integration health, data flow consistency, and system-wide uptime.
Strategic Leadership and Mentorship
- Identify and lead strategic initiatives for enhancing integration efficiency, establishing industry standards, and driving innovation within integration workflows.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, engineering, and product teams to align integration strategies with the broader platform architecture and business objectives.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.
- Research and introduce emerging technologies, platforms, and best practices to maintain a strategic advantage in integration scalability and efficiency.

Job requirements
Advanced Experience in Enterprise-Level Integration Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on integrating complex, enterprise-level third-party systems (e.g., ATS, VoIP providers) and building highly scalable data pipelines.
Expertise in System Integrations and Architecting Scalable, Distributed Systems
- Advanced proficiency in API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems management.
- Extensive experience with statically typed languages, object-oriented programming, and functional programming paradigms.
- Proven track record of designing and managing mission-critical, high-availability, distributed systems.
Deep Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Expert-level experience with GCP services, containerization, serverless technologies, and cloud-native development patterns.
- Advanced knowledge of Firebase and Firestore, with experience in architecting data-centric solutions.
Advanced Cloud-Native Development and Automation Expertise
- Expert-level proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and advanced CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
- Deep understanding of observability tools and techniques for monitoring complex distributed systems.
