About Us

Damen Shipyards Group, a world-leading shipbuilder, operates 35 yards globally with around 12,000 employees. Divided into divisions focusing on different market segments, our small corporate headquarters supports general management and expertise centers. With our global workforce increasing, the Shared Service Center in Gorinchem is extending its expat desk to support HR of the Damen companies based in Gorinchem with coordinating International Assignments.

The Role

You will work closely with the International Assignment Coordinator (IAC) in this supporting role. You will be involved in coordination of international assignments from start to finish, supporting expats through every phase of their assignment and assisting in areas such as immigration, social security, tax, housing, insurance, and relocation. Additionally, you will oversee the required services from Damen’s dedicated vendors.

The expat population that you will be supporting is a group of around 80 employees working in more than 25 countries.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide support during all phases of the assignment lifecycle (Pre-departure, at post, extension, repatriations). This entails amongst others collecting information, completing forms and preparing and reviewing documents.
  • Coordinate and oversee the end-to-end assignment processes.
  • Initiate and monitor vendor services (immigration, social security, tax, housing, insurance, and relocation).
  • Perform essential administrative tasks such as preparing assignment contracts, collecting information, completing documents required to start vendor services, and keeping employee files up to date.
  • Maintain a clear overview of active assignments, collaborating with HR to coordinate extensions or terminations.
  • Coordinate the annual Tax Return process for Damen employees. This entails regular review of Tax Return status reports and follow up with tax advisory and employee.
  • Ensure accurate international assignment data within the HR information system.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2-3 years of experience in HR administration, preferably in the field of HR, Global Mobility, Immigration, Social Security, International Payroll, or related areas.
  • Experience with guiding expats is a plus (e.g. relocation services or consultancy roles).
  • Basic knowledge of expatriate payroll, Dutch social security, and immigration procedures is preferred.
  • Experience working in an international environment is an advantage for this role. It is important to approach matters with a global view rather than considering it from a Dutch perspective.
  • Proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Accurate execution of tasks following policies and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and adherence to policies.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch is required.

What We Offer

  • An excellent benefits package tailored to your experience and level of education.
  • An international work environment.
  • An open, informal, no-nonsense culture with short communication lines.
