The Financial Institutions Group (FIG)

The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) manages relationships with Rabobank's most important and strategic FI clients globally. The FIG Banks team, part of the FI Relationship Management Team, focuses on key banks that support Rabobank or have excellent client relationships with us. We're looking for a new colleague to manage a portfolio of clients, act as a sector banker, and help build the team.

You and Your Team

As an Associate (Director) within the FI Relationship Management Team, you'll work with client owners, multiple product groups, and internal departments like legal, risk, and compliance to coordinate relationships with high-value or strategically important FI clients. The team also covers Asset Managers, Development Banks, and Insurance Companies. Your role ensures that other business lines remain focused on prudent business practices.

Facts & Figures

The Financial Institutions Group is part of Markets and consists of three teams:

  • FI Relationship Management: Focuses on high-value, strategically important, or complex FI clients and the Orphan Desk (responsible for offboarding FI clients).
  • FI Lending & Fund Finance: Centralizes all FIG lending activities, including relationship loans, bridge facilities, and fund finance facilities to private equity firms.
  • FI Credit Hub: Handles credit analysis and coordination of FI clients.

The FI Relationship Management team has 11 relationship bankers, including 4 Senior Relationship Bankers and 7 Relationship Managers. They cover key Financial Institutions of high strategic value or complex nature, with four strategic sectors: Banks, Insurance Companies, Asset Managers, and Multilateral Development Banks.

Clients of the FIG Banks Team (Examples)

  • Large Global Banks: Citi, Bank of America, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank.

You and Your Job

As an Associate (Director), you'll manage an existing FI Banks group of clients and coordinate all client relationship aspects. To manage your portfolio, you'll collaborate with the FI Credit Hub, FI Lending team, various product departments, COFI, FEC, risk, legal, and compliance. This allows you to build a strong internal network and learn about the bank from multiple angles, including Markets (DCM, Trading, Sales), Trade & Commodity Finance (TCF), Global Network Management, Transaction Banking, Equity Capital Markets, Treasury & Funding, and Portfolio Management.

As a sector banker in the FI Banking space, you'll support other teams and departments with sector know-how. You'll learn to understand the complex relationships with global banks, which can be clients, service providers, liquidity providers, trading partners, investors, lenders, and competitors simultaneously.

You and Your Talent

We're looking for a candidate with the following core competencies: customer-focused, strong communication skills, proactive, result-oriented, diligent administrative skills, and focused on continuous improvement. You'll support client owners in their daily activities, build and maintain a comprehensive network within the sector, and work on your own projects with a strong client focus. There's also an opportunity to grow into the role of a client owner, taking on greater responsibilities in managing client relationships, developing strategic initiatives, and driving business growth.

Important skills for this role include:
