We’re looking for a driven Financial Controller to join Decathlon Netherlands. Your job

As a Financial Controller within Decathlon, you will be part of our Finance team which contains 14 finance specialists. This department is segmented into two different teams: Operations & Compliance and Business Finance. You will be part of the operations & compliance team and will be responsible for all local financial audits.

You will actively design internal processes and communicate to stakeholders. Contribute to improve processes in the area of responsibility (efficiency, automation), and organize, improve and securize the KPI's of specific sub-processes in the area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ensure the full implementation of Internal Controls system, evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes implemented; promote the culture of IC and timely report incidents
  • Work closely with team members to assist with the month-end close
  • Coordinate the annual audit process including the draft of the financial statements and related notes
  • Record, control and report transactions in the area of responsibility
  • Ensure communication, documentation and risk mitigating actions to support internal and external audit in the area of responsibility
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations of allocated accounts, explain variations and ensure timely resolution and clean up of overdue items
  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual financial closings and financial statements validation
  • Take on and oversee special accounting topics according to Dutch GAAP and IFRS
  • Ensure good financial reporting based on a very good understanding of data (master data)
  • Appropriate, apply and follow up the group and local accounting and compliance norms
  • Provide group reporting

What we expect from you

The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, and audit. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.

  • You have a passion for sports!
  • You have 3-5 years of relevant work experience in finance, experience in financial controlling/internal audit is a must
  • Experience in big4 is a plus
  • Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus
  • You are result-and solution-oriented, you do this with a proactive and stress-resistant attitude
  • You are persuasive and have excellent communication skills and good in internal/external stakeholder management
  • Analytical and tech savvy
