The internship

As a Sustainability intern, you are a key player in our Global Procurement team and you will support in implementing our sustainability strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of our raw materials (ingredients). You will work closely with Procurement, Corporate Affairs, Supply Chain and the local sustainability teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research & data analysis: conduct research on sustainable raw materials and suppliers. Data gathering and analysis to model/develop sustainability insights that support decarbonization initiatives.
  • Project Management and reporting: assist in managing sustainability projects, track progress, and report on key metrics. Support in carbon footprint reporting. Contribute to pilots and initiatives that will accelerate our decarbonization journey.
  • Collaboration and communication: Collaborate and have meetings with our key suppliers. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and the team.

The department

Join HEINEKEN’s dynamic Global Procurement – Raw Materials team and be at the forefront of our mission to decarbonize raw materials. We are a leading company committed to sustainability and innovation, striving to make a positive impact on the environment. We have set ambitious SBTi targets and are navigating with our projects towards a 30% carbon reduction on Forestry, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) by 2030. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability practices within a global context.

The terms of employment

  • Your starting date is 1 February 2025
  • The internship is fulltime
  • The duration of the internship is 6 months (in consultation with your internship supervisor)
  • It is a practice-oriented internship
  • You will be based in Amsterdam (Schiphol office)
  • During your internship, you have the flexibility to work in a hybrid setup
  • You will receive an internship fee of €650 gross pm based on 40 hours per week (when you start at the 1st of January 2025).
  • You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on fulltime)
  • If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

The unique you!

  • Ability to prioritize and work in a structured way on projects
  • Good knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office (PowerBI, Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
  • Strong analytical skills: able to distil insights from data, work on complex Excel formulae and equations
  • Clear communication style and skills
  • Being a true team player with eagerness to learn and share knowledge
  • Business experience working in a corporate environment (as intern)

  • Bachelor (HBO) or Master (WO) education, preferably related to a Business or Communication studies,
  • A passionate team-player having affinity (and knowledge) with Sustainability and/or Agriculture

Conditions of HEINEKEN

  1. You are enrolled at an educational institution.
  2. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution, from which we receive proof of enrollment for the current academic year from you.
  3. In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
  4. Living in the Netherlands during internship (HEINEKEN does not facilitate housing).
