Are you passionate about logistics and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? We are looking for an experienced and driven Shipping Manager to play a vital role in our global supply chain organization. In this exciting position, you will lead the charge in ensuring seamless and efficient delivery of goods to our valued customers across the EU.

What will you be doing?
As a Shipping Manager you are responsible for the entire logistics process of EU projects from tender stage until the operational transfer of the project to the outbound department. Independently and with a drive to win, he/she prepares projects successfully. The Shipping Manager works from Veghel and is willing to travel to when needed (max 10% of your time). He/She is part of the Contracts, Routing & Forwarding Team and reports to the Manager Contracts, Routing & Forwarding. The shipping manager EU leads two forwarding officers with whom he/she prepares the shipments to all EU projects.

Responsibilities

If you’re an enthusiastic and versatile Shipping Manager, you will excel at:

  • Determine the best shipping plan and lanes, in consultation with project management, supply chain, and procurement
  • Determine and negotiate the transport and packaging costs for projects and the associated risk assessment.
  • Monitor and analyse monthly freight costs to optimize carrier invoices and ensure financial compliance
  • Ensure compliance with (country-specific) transportation requirements
  • Support procurement and manufacturing teams on inbound flow from external suppliers
  • Lead a team of EU forwarding officers and manage day-to-day operations
  • Steer on continuous improvement and KPIs and improve sustainability within the department
  • Closely monitoring projects, measure (internal) performances and adjust accordingly.
  • Contribute to transportation strategy by focussing on efficiency and reliability of our suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

What do we ask from you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations
  • A passion for logistics and shipping

  • Negotiating skills
  • Individual and team leadership and you enjoy coaching people
  • An excellent communicator in English (and preferably also in Dutch)
  • Knowledge of intermodal transportation is a plus
