Senior Associate or Manager Accounting

The DPP Accounting team consists of a core team of approximately nine experienced professionals topped up with those rotation in and out - approximately 10-15 colleagues - from our assurance department. Your challenges

  • Dealing with (complex) consultations on judgmental IFRS and Dutch GAAP accounting matter
  • Developing and updating accounting tools to support our audit professionals like accounting papers, disclosure checklists, Illustrative financial statements etc.
  • Developing and presenting training for both our audit professionals and clients on (developments in) financial reporting standards
  • Contributing to KPMG accounting thought leadership and influencing developments and changes in the accounting arena through active participation in (committees of) the Dutch Accounting Standards Board and for IFRS via our global and EMA ISG and EMA infrastructure, and external organisations as Accountancy Europe and EFRAG
  • Performing pre-issuance reviews of financial statements
  • Providing technical accounting expertise to other KPMG departments that perform for example internal quality revies or are involved in inspections by regulators
  • Creating and sharing thought leadership on accounting developments in in- and external publications

This is what you bring

  • Master degree and professional RA (Dutch CPA) qualification or equivalent (completed or in progress)
  • Relevant work experience (approximately 4 to 8 years) in audit and/or accounting
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills in English (and Dutch as preference)
  • Knowledge of and experience with IFRS (and preferably Dutch GAAP), strong project and people management skills, team player

Although the role is about technical accounting, to be successful a sound dose of curiosity and people skills comes in handy. It is all about understanding the specific facts and circumstances and the underlying rationale while liaising with audit professionals. The role involves both focussing on an understanding the detail while at the same time it is important to zoom out and assess the bigger picture. What will you do in this position?

Financial reporting lies at the core of our audit business, it is what we audit and what we use to model and plan our audit approach. Our audit opinion communicates about the reporting entity's financial reporting. For a high quality audit we need to have a good understanding of the relevant financial reporting requirements and their application. DPP Accounting contributes to KPMG’s key objectives through:

  • Delivering high quality responses to consultations while fostering a healthy consultation experience
  • Identifying and communicating changes in laws, regulations and accounting standards including emerging issues and hot topics
  • Developing training, tools and guidance
  • Contribute to other audit quality initiatives and various accounting related projects

Step 1. Your application

Have you applied? Then you will receive an invitation for the KPMG Talent Pitch immediately after your application. In the Talent Pitch, we not only get to know you, but you also get to know us better. We will also give you a tour of the world of KPMG. During the pitch, you will complete a personality questionnaire and take an aptitude test.

Step 2. The first interview

After completing the KPMG Talent Pitch, we will invite you for a first interview with a recruiter. In some cases, a colleague from the relevant department will also be present at the interview. This interview is a mutual introduction, where you also get the chance to ask all the questions you probably have.

Step 3. Follow-up interview

Did you have a positive conversation and are you still enthusiastic? If we also see a match, a second meeting will follow. In this second interview, we will delve deeper into the role and the substantive themes you will be dealing with. You may be asked to prepare a business case for the interview. Sometimes there is a final interview.

Step 4. Offer

Is there a match? Then we will make you an offer and hopefully you will start at KPMG soon. The offer will not only include your salary but also all our employment conditions, such as your pension, vacation days, and more! Do you agree with our offer? Step 5. Screening
