You will work as a project manager within the unit Healthy Living & Work, in the Research Group Microbiology & Systems Biology (MSB). Your focus will be on projects around the themes of digital health and the application of Artificial Intelligence for optimizing health.
The projects within the Systems Biology team aim to:
Our goal is to achieve societal impact, such as health gains for all and reducing healthcare costs, by working with partners. Together with colleagues and external partners, you will develop new projects and innovations. For example, using sensors to measure health and offer relevant lifestyle interventions or developing ways to use health and wearable data while respecting privacy.
As project manager, you will ensure the successful running of innovation and collaboration projects on behalf of TNO. Working with different partners and in partnerships is essential, as it allows us to shed light on issues from multiple angles.
The projects are often funded from various sources, ranging from 100% company funding to 100% subsidies, and combinations in between. You will handle a variety of parties, including governments, employee associations, and insurers. Your role involves managing the expectations of partners, keeping them involved, and ensuring projects meet conditions.
Together with subject matter experts, you manage TNO project teams, which often consist of colleagues from multiple departments. You maintain a close watch on external partners' interests. This makes the projects you coordinate challenging, as company interests may differ from subsidy conditions or TNO's objectives. Your involvement starts from the preparation of project applications. You work with a business developer and a content expert to identify suitable partners and align interests.
You manage the budget and schedule. Pursuing good results and stimulating the development of project staff are among your responsibilities. You will often have several projects running simultaneously, each taking at least a year to complete. While you work in a structured manner and often in blocks, you remain available to provide advice and answer questions in between.
As a project nears completion, you play a crucial role in finalizing the end result or report. You may write the report yourself or plan and coordinate with your project team while clarifying the desired outcomes and requirements.
Innovation with purpose: that is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for practical application. TNO connects people and knowledge to create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way.
