As a Specialist in the Survey Department, you will be seen by colleagues, but also outside Van Oord, as a leader in your specific field. Your expertise enables you to develop innovative and creative solutions to solve problems.

The position

As the undisputed expert in your field, you will train colleagues and provide knowledge development and quality management. We look forward to hearing from you and discovering how your skills and experience can contribute to our team.

  • You are a sparring partner for Survey, and Project Management, as well as external partners;
  • Advise on topics in your area of expertise. Whether it is defining technical specifications for new equipment, developing new software tooling or advising colleagues actively working on projects;
  • Keeping up to date with the latest developments and trends within your area of expertise;
  • Updating and maintaining document management systems and processes to ensure that all documents are easily accessible and provided to the right people;
  • Identifying quality problems or deviations and implementing improvements to prevent recurrence.

Your responsibilities

  • Support sustainability initiatives for Van Oord as a whole;
  • Designing and possibly implementing research projects according to set objectives;
  • Co-manage and organise internal and external documentation, including specifications, procedures and drawings;
  • Reviewing and validating documents for accuracy, completeness and regulatory compliance;
  • Support training and awareness programmes related to document management, quality control and quality assurance.

Your Workplace

You will work at the head office of Van Oord in Rotterdam and will be part of our Survey Department. The Survey department consists of about 300 employees working at our offices in Rotterdam, Gorinchem, Survey Workshop in Moerdijk and on our projects worldwide. As Survey Specialist you are part of our support team which consists of 10FT employees each with their own specialty.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in hydrography, oceanography, geodesy, geophysics or a related field;
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrographic surveys, preferably in a maritime environment;
  • Knowledge of hydrographic equipment, software and techniques;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Command of English language in both word and writing;
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
