Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Management Assistant / Proposal Support at TNO in Delft!

About this position

Emerging space-related technologies may hold the key to solving many of the societal challenges we face today. Encrypting communications, for example. Exploring the universe. Monitoring greenhouse gases. As one of the management assistants for the department Space Systems Engineering at the Netherlands’ leading research organisation, you can bring about profound change on our planet (and beyond). At TNO, you’ll be part of an organisation that uses innovation to help mankind take its next giant leap forward, one innovative step at a time, while also stimulating the Dutch economy.

What will be your role?

One part of the role will be management support and the other part proposal support.

The management support of the department (80 people) will be together with another management assistant. In this role you are the point of contact for the department manager, deputies, and other team members, making you one of the connecting persons in the department. You will have a wide range of tasks, which require a high degree of flexibility and accuracy in their execution.

The other part of the role is proposal support, making an important contribution to a professional and compliant proposal process within the roadmap Space and Scientific Instrumentation TNO and working closely with the proposal teams. You will support the proposal process by providing structure, clarity, and quality. You will ensure accurate system registration, high-quality proposals, and reliable reporting. Together with other colleagues working in the proposal process, you ensure proper coverage and support for the department.

You work independently, switch easily between tasks, and manage priorities effectively. Additionally, there will be opportunities to take on other tasks to ensure your role remains varied and engaging.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

  • Supporting the RM, 2dRM’s and team members.
  • Supporting proposal managers in the administrative and procedural aspects of the proposal process.
  • Reviewing and supporting quotations and contracts, including templates, terms & conditions, and digital signatures.
  • Intern coordination for the department, collecting and following up on intern assignments and registration/coordination of interested interns.

What we expect from you

In order to fulfill this role properly, we expect you to meet the following profile:

  • An HBO working and thinking level.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a management assistant, or in a comparable role.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good command of the English language, spoken and written.
  • Good practical skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, SharePoint), and interest in Gen AI possibilities to enhance your work.
  • Ability to handle pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Weekly availability of 32-40 hours.

You are willing to take on new initiatives and contribute actively to shaping the future of the department. With a flexible mindset, a genuine interest in people, and a strong drive to support TNO colleagues, you combine a proactive attitude with the ability to think before acting. In this role, there is ample room to develop new activities on your own initiative. You anticipate what is needed, switch easily between tasks, and communicate clearly when something is not feasible. Your engaged and positive attitude makes you approachable and trusted by colleagues across the organisation.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between € 3,200 and € 4,400 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:

  • An extremely professional, innovative working environment where colleagues are leading experts in their field.
  • The opportunity to attend courses, workshops and conferences, and to receive training and coaching based on your needs.
  • 33 days annual leave on a full-time basis plus a flexible holiday (prorated) that can be used on a cultural, religious, or otherwise important day of your choosing.
  • A comprehensive and flexible mobility plan that also includes full compensation for public transportation for commuting and business travel.
  • Great social events with your team and other TNO colleagues.
  • Flexible working hours, the possibility to work parttime (32 or 36 hours) and the possibility of working from home.
  • Extensive relocation package for international candidates.
  • A good pension scheme.

Innovation with purpose: that is what TNO stands for. We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for practical application. TNO connects people and knowledge to create innovations that boost the competitive strength of industry and the well-being of society in a sustainable way.
