Are you ready to take the next step in internationally supporting the energy transition and renewable energy development through data, modelling and analysis? We are looking for a Wind Resource & Renewable Energy Modelling Consultant (Medior/Senior) who combines strong analytical skills with an interest in numerical modelling, programming and renewable energy systems.

You will work on a wide range of onshore and offshore wind projects, from wind measurement campaigns and energy yield assessments to wake modelling, technical due diligence and hybrid energy system studies. You will work on projects involving wind resource assessment, wake modelling and energy yield analysis, while also increasingly contributing to integrated renewable energy systems that combine wind, solar and energy storage technologies.

What you will do as Wind Resource & Renewable Energy Modelling Consultant

As a Wind Resource & Renewable Energy Modelling Consultant, you will help clients make well-founded decisions on wind-energy projects from early development through to operation. You combine technical wind-data analysis with practical project delivery, translating complex measurements, modelling results and uncertainties into clear, actionable advice. You will work closely with clients and colleagues across wind, energy systems and offshore development.

  • Lead and deliver wind resource, energy yield and renewable energy modelling studies, translating complex datasets, measurements and model results into clear recommendations for clients.
  • Manage technical projects from proposal to delivery, including scope definition, stakeholder management, planning, budgeting and client communication.
  • Design, coordinate and evaluate wind measurement campaigns, including LiDAR, met mast and SCADA data analysis, uncertainty assessments and technical due diligence.
  • Develop and apply advanced analytical and numerical models for wind resources, wake effects, energy yield assessments and integrated renewable energy systems.
  • Develop Python-based tools, automation workflows and data-driven solutions, and explore the application of AI and machine learning techniques to improve renewable energy assessments and decision-making.
  • Contribute to innovative projects involving wind, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid energy systems and future energy infrastructure.

Where you will work

At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology.

As our new Wind Resource & Renewable Energy Modelling Consultant, you will become part of the Wind Resource Assessment (WRA) team, a sub-team of the Renewable Energy Development advisory group, with its main office in Arnhem, The Netherlands. The highly technical WRA team combines practical measurement-campaign expertise with advanced modelling, data science and renewable energy system analysis.

We work on wind resource assessments, wake modelling, energy yield studies, Python tool development and, in recent years, increasingly on the integration of wind, solar and storage systems. We actively invest in developing new methodologies, Python-based tooling and numerical modelling approaches to address emerging challenges in offshore wind, hybrid energy systems and future energy markets. This gives you the opportunity to grow as both a technical specialist and project manager.

What you bring

You are analytical, structured and comfortable taking ownership of technical workstreams. You can turn complex results into understandable conclusions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You enjoy working collaboratively, while being confident enough to challenge assumptions, manage expectations and keep projects moving.

  • A relevant MSc or PhD in engineering, meteorology, physics, environmental sciences, renewable energy or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in wind-resource assessment, energy-yield assessment and/or metocean work.
  • Experience with measurement campaigns, preferably including LiDAR and/or met masts, is beneficial.
  • Confidence in managing technical projects and communicating with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Convincing motivation to work in a consultancy environment and a clear drive to constantly develop your skills and improve the organisation to help clients reach their objectives.
  • Strong Python programming skills and affinity with software development (i.e. analytical models or engineering tools), automation, and data-driven engineering.
  • Experience with renewable energy system modelling, solar resource assessment, battery storage or hybrid energy systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant WRA tools and methods, such as WindPRO, Windographer, WAsP, PyWake, MCP, uncertainty analysis and wake modelling.
  • Fluent written and spoken English. Dutch and/or German is an advantage.

At Haskoning, we believe that the well-being of our employees is essential to our shared success. That’s why we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support both your professional development and personal well-being.

  • 28 vacation days based on full-time employment, with the option to purchase an additional 16.5 days per year and exchange three public holidays for days that are personally meaningful to you.
  • A hybrid model with flexible hours, work-from-home allowance, and a fully equipped home workspace.
  • A wide range of training and development programs, including tailored learning paths, learning weeks, and various knowledge-sharing groups.
  • A conveniently located workplace at one of our offices, an attractive mileage allowance of up to €0.45 per km for business travel, an NS Business Card, and the option of a lease car when travel is extensive.
