Role Description

Booking.com's US Program Management Team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to support delivery of strategic commercial projects with the aim of accelerating growth in the US market. This role will be based out of the Amsterdam HQ Office.

The US Program Management Team is responsible for defining and overseeing the implementation of the growth strategy for Booking.com in the United States, with members in New York and Amsterdam. The team works closely with senior leaders from key cross-functional teams within Booking.com — including marketing, product & tech, Ops, and analytics — and partners with other Booking Holdings brands as they consider how to best leverage collective strengths within the US market.

The Senior Project Manager will partner with marketing teams to define US-specific objectives, targets, and roadmaps, and proactively report progress to key stakeholders. This role requires a commercially minded person who understands the business dynamics behind a project, can interpret performance data, spot emerging opportunities or risks, and translate them into action without waiting to be told.

The Senior Project Manager will help partnering teams mitigate project risks and dependencies, own projects through to completion with limited oversight, and ensure that the work delivered is grounded in data and meaningfully advances US growth objectives.

We are looking for someone with strong commercial and business understanding who can proactively identify opportunities, independently define the path forward, and run projects through to delivery with minimal direction. This person thrives in ambiguity, engages credibly with senior commercial and marketing stakeholders, and is able to distinguish what matters from what doesn't. Self-motivation and a high standard of ownership are non-negotiable.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Own the successful delivery of multiple medium-to-high-impact, end-to-end projects, operating independently from scoping through execution and reporting.
  • Proactively identify business opportunities and gaps — don't wait for problems to be handed to you; surface and frame them for the right stakeholders.
  • Translate program performance data into commercial insight: identify gaps between plan and trajectory, understand the commercial implications, and recommend corrective action.
  • Independently lead medium-complexity, cross-functional projects with global impact, driving them through execution, analysis, recommendation, and implementation.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels: work collaboratively with commercial, marketing, product, and finance partners to drive US strategy execution.
  • Lead, motivate, and align stakeholders and project teams toward shared goals; challenge assumptions where needed and bring imaginative, practical solutions to move things forward.
  • Communicate project insights and recommendations clearly across all stakeholders, adapting the message to the audience from working group to Director level.
  • Apply structured methodology to manage programs across cross-functional teams and measure performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Prepare, maintain, and present relevant documentation and reporting to stakeholders up to Director level.
  • Drive project scoping and planning by documenting the project goal, KPIs, roadmap, and main deliverables.
  • Track and report progress; create clear planning documents together with involved departments.

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5+ years in a commercial or project management role, leveraging customer insights and data to solve complex customer problems and drive business growth.
  • Deep commercial and business understanding: able to read business performance metrics (revenue, conversion, P&L implications, commercial trade-offs), synthesize data into actionable insight, and engage as a true thought partner with commercial stakeholders — not just a delivery manager.
  • Able to spot what's missing, frame it clearly, and initiate action without being prompted. The expectation is that you are running your portfolio, not waiting for assignments.
  • Ability to run projects with minimal support: once a goal is aligned, owns end-to-end delivery independently; escalates when needed but does not require active hand-holding through execution.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, particularly toward high-level stakeholders including Senior Managers and Directors.
  • Solid familiarity with project/change management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle; good understanding of the change curve and how to manage organisational change effectively.
  • Highly organized and structured; ensures all processes run smoothly and reliably in an ambiguous and constantly changing environment.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of the US travel market: familiarity with how accommodation, flights, or related verticals work commercially in the US context (supply dynamics, partner relationships, competitive landscape).
  • Experience working with or in marketing functions (performance marketing, growth marketing, lifecycle/CRM) or exposure to marketing-led program delivery.
  • Ability to lead best-practice behaviors within the department on Project Management methodology.

Benefits & Perks

Booking.com offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Annual paid time off and generous paid leave scheme including parent, grandparent, bereavement, and care leave.
  • Hybrid working including flexible working arrangements, and up to 20 days per year working from abroad (home country).
  • Industry-leading product discounts — up to 1400 per year — for yourself, including automatic Genius Level 3 status and Booking.com wallet credit.
