TU Delft is looking for a Junior Researcher to contribute to research in offshore geotechnics, focusing on the installation, operational performance and decommissioning of offshore foundation systems.
Job description
Would you like to contribute to research on the foundations that support offshore wind infrastructure throughout their full life cycle?
We are looking for a motivated Junior Researcher to support ongoing research projects in offshore geotechnics at TU Delft. The research focuses on offshore foundation systems, from their installation and operational performance to their decommissioning at the end of their service life.
You will contribute to research on offshore wind foundations, including monopiles, suction caissons and other foundation concepts. The work aims to improve our understanding of soil–foundation interaction under complex offshore loading conditions. Relevant topics include installation effects, cyclic and dynamic loading, long-term performance, and the removal or reuse of foundations.
You will work closely with academic staff, PhD candidates and project partners. Depending on the needs of the projects and your background, your activities may include:
This position is primarily intended for a recent MSc graduate who would like to gain experience in scientific research. As a Junior Researcher, you will support the research activities of our academic staff and PhD candidates, while further developing your own expertise in offshore geotechnics.
Candidates with a completed PhD and a strong relevant profile may be considered for appointment at postdoctoral level. At this level, the role will involve greater scientific independence and responsibility. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to take a more substantial role in developing and conducting research activities, interpreting research results, and contributing to scientific publications and collaboration within the research projects.
You will join the Department of Hydraulic Engineering at TU Delft’s Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences. The department conducts research and education in hydraulic, coastal, river and offshore engineering. Within this international academic environment, you will contribute to research related to offshore wind energy and sustainable offshore infrastructure.
