Would you like to help unravel the fascinating development of babies and children? If so, you could play an important role as lab manager at the Baby & Child Research Center (BRC). Your organisational and problem-solving skills will make the difference for staff and research participants. We offer a multifaceted and rewarding job in a collaborative, multidisciplinary and supportive research environment, with a diverse international staff.

Your duties will include coordinating lab-based and remote research, acting as the front line for research participants who visit BRC, supervising student assistants, helping maintain test procedures and protocols, assisting with the management of confidential information provided by participants and with dealing with administrative and ethical issues arising from the research, maintaining financial records pertaining to testing, managing the participant database, and supporting public outreach programmes for parents and families.

Does this sound like you?

  • You have excellent organisational skills with an eye for detail.
  • You have experience with working in higher education or an academic environment.
  • You have proven problem-solving skills and an ability to take a strong, positive and proactive approach to work.
  • You have versatility and flexibility, and are able to work in a team as well as independently.
  • You have the ability to deal sympathetically but effectively with staff, students, university administrators and participating families.
  • You have the ability to manage time, prioritise workload, keep to deadlines and multitask effectively.
  • You have a comprehensive knowledge of office systems and procedures.
  • You have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (Dutch and English).
  • Previous experience of working in a research lab or running psychological studies with children is an advantage.
  • Experience with working with children under 5 years and with families is an advantage.

What we offer you

  • We will give you a temporary employment contract of one year with the prospect of an indefinite contract.
  • Your salary within salary scale 7 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.
  • You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8,3% end-of-year bonus.
  • You will receive extra days off. With full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.

Where you will be working

The Baby & Child Research Center (BRC) at Radboud University is a leading cross-disciplinary research initiative on early development. We study children's language, social and cognitive development as well as their health during the first six years of life. BRC features state-of-the-art facilities, such as eye-tracking, motion-tracking and neuroimaging techniques. BRC fosters a collaborative, multidisciplinary and supportive research environment with a diverse international staff. You will be an integral member of the lively BRC community. Under the direct supervision of Prof. Sabine Hunnius, you will work closely together with a team of research support staff towards achieving the goals described above.

Faculty of Social Sciences

At the Faculty of Social Sciences, humanity and society are our focus; we study how people behave, think and feel. Within this context, we look at themes such as human behaviour and the human psyche, education and upbringing, communication, society and culture. The faculty provides education to 6,000 students and employs 700 staff.
