About Demcon

At DEMCON Unmanned Systems (DUS), we design, develop and build advanced Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) that perform critical missions in inland, coastal and offshore environments. Our autonomous and remotely operated vessels support applications such as hydrographic surveying, offshore wind inspections, environmental monitoring, security operations and maritime infrastructure maintenance. What makes us unique is that we develop the complete ecosystem ourselves: from vessels and embedded control systems to autonomous navigation software, remote operating centres and mission management applications. As part of the DEMCON Group, you will combine the agility of a growing technology company with access to expertise in software, robotics, electronics and systems engineering.

What are you going to do?

As a Software Engineer, you will help develop software that enables operators to monitor, control and supervise autonomous vessels in real-world maritime operations. Your primary focus will be on user-facing applications and operational interfaces, translating complex system behaviour into intuitive and reliable user experiences. You will work closely with software, systems, robotics and vessel engineers to create software that is used daily in mission-critical environments. Depending on your interests and experience, you will contribute across the full software stack, from frontend applications and system integration to communication with autonomous and embedded systems.

  • Design and develop modern user interfaces for autonomous maritime systems.
  • Create intuitive operator dashboards, mission planning tools and situational awareness interfaces.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to translate customer and system requirements into software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain production-grade software within an agile development environment.
  • Integrate frontend applications with onboard control systems, sensors, and autonomous navigation software.
  • Contribute to the software architecture, testing strategies and continuous improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews and help maintain high software quality standards.
  • Work within modern software development workflows using Git, Docker and Jira.

What do you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
  • Experience developing user interfaces and frontend applications.
  • Experience with one or more frameworks such as Qt/QML, React, Angular or Vue.
  • Experience with C++ and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with Git-based development workflows.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Nice to Have

  • Professional software development experience.
  • Experience with autonomous, robotics or remotely operated systems.
  • Experience with robotics software, preferably ROS2.
  • Knowledge of embedded software development.
  • Experience with dashboarding and data visualisation software.
  • Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD and cloud-native development practices.
  • Affinity with maritime technology, robotics, autonomous systems and unmanned vehicles.

What do we offer you?

At Demcon we have a flat organization where people can easily find and help each other. We value a comfortable and inclusive workplace. There is a lot of emphasis put on personal needs and we discourage overtime, because we know how important work-life balance is.

Furthermore, you can count on, among other things:

  • A good, market-based salary;
  • 31 days off and 8% vacation allowance;
  • Possibility to work from home, maximum 2 days a week.
  • A good pension plan at Zwitserleven;
  • The opportunity to follow training and courses through the Demcon Academy, or externally, so you can further develop your knowledge;
  • A laptop and mobile phone from work;
  • Bicycle plan;
  • Active personnel association (monthly activities such as drinks and an annual Demcon weekend) and annual sporting events.

Wij werken aan oplossingen voor maatschappelijke uitdagingen in de markten aerospace, agri & food, defense & security, energy, high-tech systems & materials, life sciences & health, smart industry en water & maritime.
