Senior Platform Engineer

Join our Stream Processing and Data Ingestion team at Just Eat Takeaway.com, a leading global online delivery platform. You'll design and build real-time data ingestion and stream processing capabilities that empower data engineers, ML engineers, and analysts across the company to deliver for customers. This is a key investment area for JET as it builds its next-generation AWS lakehouse alongside its mature GCP estate.

About this role

These are some of the key components to the position:

• Design and build robust, secure real-time data ingestion and Apache Flink stream processing pipelines across GCP and AWS platforms
• Model engineering excellence through high-quality code, QA/testing practices, security standards, and optimal solutions
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical direction for the data platform, driving innovation and scalability
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers, fostering team growth and knowledge sharing
• Partner with engineering and data teams to surface blockers, align on scalable approaches, and enable customer value
• Own self-serve ingestion capabilities including throughput optimization, delivery guarantees, and error handling
• Drive platform evolution by evaluating and implementing new technologies that enable business objectives

What will you bring to the team?

• Deep expertise in Go and/or Scala for building platform services and data systems, with working knowledge of Python
• Proven experience designing and implementing real-time ingestion and stream processing solutions using Apache Flink or comparable engines
• Strong Kubernetes experience, ideally building operators/controllers and running production workloads
• Demonstrated ability to deliver end-to-end projects with full ownership, from design through deployment, monitoring, and alerting
• Commitment to writing well-tested, readable, performant code for large-scale data volumes, with dedication to mentoring other engineers
• Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in architecture discussions, influencing peers and stakeholders toward better decisions
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including managed and serverless services
