Join AkzoNobel as Digital Lead DIY Platforms Benelux within AkzoNobel’s Consumer Coatings business, where digital is no longer a supporting channel—it is where brand experience, inspiration and conversion come together.

About the Role

As Digital Lead DIY Platforms Benelux, you take ownership of this space for some of the most recognisable DIY and paint brands in the region.

You are responsible for shaping and continuously evolving the digital ecosystem for leading Dutch and Belgian consumer brands such as Flexa, Cetabever, Alabastine, Hammerite, Glitsa, Levis and Xyladecor. These platforms—websites, apps and digital tools—are often the first point of interaction for consumers planning their home improvement projects, selecting colours, or seeking inspiration. Your role ensures that this experience is seamless, inspiring, data-driven and commercially effective.

You operate at the intersection of brand, technology and consumer behaviour. Translating brand strategy into digital experiences is at the core of what you do, but equally important is how those experiences perform: how they convert, how they engage, and how they evolve over time.

You also act as a key digital counterpart within a broader ecosystem of Digital leads in Benelux, ensuring clear governance across DIY, trade, owned and external partnership channels. In doing so, you safeguard focus, clarity and consistency in a complex multi-brand digital landscape.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Take full ownership of the DIY digital platform landscape in Benelux, defining and steering the roadmap for brand websites, apps and digital tools.
  • Ensure that each platform is aligned with both local market needs and global digital strategy, balancing consistency with market relevance.
  • Translate brand and campaign activity into meaningful digital experiences.
  • Work closely with Brand, Customer Marketing, Global & EMEA Digital and external agencies to bring campaigns to life on-site, ensuring that every digital touchpoint contributes to engagement and conversion.
  • Analyse consumer behaviour, journey data and platform KPIs to continuously identify opportunities to improve UX, increase conversion and optimise the overall digital journey.
  • Lead CRO initiatives, UX enhancements and testing programmes, turning insight into measurable impact.
  • Ensure the platforms are robust, scalable and future-ready.
  • Collaborate closely with PDM and IT teams to safeguard product data quality, content integrity and seamless integration of key consumer functionalities such as colour tools, product selectors and inspiration engines.
  • Act as the key business counterpart for development partners, ensuring high-quality delivery of enhancements, releases and fixes.
  • Maintain clear scope boundaries between DIY platforms, trade platforms, owned platforms and external partner channels, ensuring coherence across the wider digital ecosystem and avoiding fragmentation.
  • Represent the Benelux DIY digital perspective in regional and global forums, contributing to shared roadmaps and best practice development.

How You Make an Impact

Your impact is visible in how consumers experience and interact with the brands online. Strong platform performance means more than traffic—it means relevance, inspiration and conversion at critical moments in the consumer journey.

You directly influence how consumers discover products, explore ideas, and make decisions through digital tools. This has a tangible impact on brand preference, category growth and commercial performance.

Beyond the platforms themselves, you contribute to the broader digital transformation agenda by sharing learnings, standardising approaches and improving how digital capabilities scale across markets. You help shape a more connected, efficient and consumer-centric digital ecosystem across Benelux and beyond.

What You Bring

  • Strong foundation in digital platform ownership, e-commerce or product-driven environments.
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and translate consumer and brand needs into high-performing digital experiences.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in Marketing, Business, Digital or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in platform development, e-commerce or digital product ownership, ideally within a B2C or consumer-focused environment.
  • Strong affinity with UX, data analytics, conversion optimisation and digital tooling.
  • Comfortable working with technologies such as AEM, Contenful, Wordpress/Woocommerce, GA4 environments and testing tools.
  • Familiarity with SEO, GEO, martech and personalisation platforms is a strong advantage.
  • Experience operating in complex, multi-brand and multi-country environments.
  • Comfortable working with global and regional roadmaps while balancing local market needs.
  • Ability to navigate a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to build alignment across brand, marketing, IT and external partners.
  • Consumer-focused, analytical and commercially driven mindset, with the ability to clearly connect digital initiatives to brand and category performance KPIs.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of French is a plus in the context of Belgian stakeholder collaboration.

What We Offer

This role offers the opportunity to shape the digital face of some of the most well-known DIY brands in the Benelux region within a global organisation that is actively investing in digital transformation. You will have ownership over a critical digital platform portfolio with significant visibility and impact on both brand performance and consumer experience.

The role gives you the autonomy to define direction, prioritise initiatives and drive meaningful improvements across multiple markets and brands.

In return, you join an international environment that values innovation, collaboration and continuous learning. You will work closely with experienced digital, brand and technology professionals across Europe and beyond, contributing directly to the evolution of AkzoNobel’s consumer digital ecosystem.

The position comes with a competitive compensation package, including a fixed annual bonus of 8.33% and 46 days of holidays and leave per year, reflecting a strong commitment to both performance and personal wellbeing.

Beyond this, you will find strong development opportunities and the chance to grow your career in a truly international and future-focused digital organisation.
