Communication IT Information Security Internship

You see communication differently. Not as noise, but as something that shapes behaviour, decisions and awareness. During this internship, you help colleagues across Van Oord make smarter and safer choices in their daily work. You translate complex cyber risks into stories people understand and remember. From creative campaigns to behavioural interventions, your work helps protect projects, people, and data around the world.

The position

Van Oord is moving towards a more risk-driven approach to information security awareness. That means less generic communication and more focus on specific behaviours, target groups and real risks. As an intern within our Information Security team, you help shape this next step.

You analyse how current awareness materials perform and explore how communication can influence safer behaviour. You work closely with colleagues from Information Security and Corporate Communications and contribute ideas that are practical, creative and relevant for different audiences across the organization.

Your impact

In this internship, you support the development of communication and awareness initiatives focused on information security and insider risk. You:

• Review existing e learnings and assess whether they connect to key risks, practical situations and behavioural change
• Update the golden rules for information security and ensure they remain relevant, clear and aligned with current threats and policies
• Develop communication materials such as infographics, Viva Engage posts, micro learning content and awareness campaigns
• Support campaign planning, annual awareness planning, audience segmentation and effectiveness measurement
• Translate risk data and security insights into understandable and engaging communication

By the end of your internship, you will have contributed to meaningful deliverables including a revised awareness approach, updated communication guidelines and a toolkit that supports safer behavior across Van Oord.

You will join the Information Security team. A team that combines technical expertise with a strong focus on people, behaviour and collaboration. We believe security only works when communication is clear, practical, and human.

About you

You are curious about communication, behaviour and digital security. You enjoy turning complex information into clear and engaging stories and you like combining creativity with analysis. You also bring:

• A HBO or WO background in Communication, Behavioural Sciences, Creative Business, Commercial Economics, Psychology, International Communication or Business Administration
• Strong writing and communication skills in both Dutch and English
• Affinity with behavioural influence, awareness and communication strategies
• Experience with content creation and digital communication tools
• A structured and proactive way of working
