Senior Software/ Data Engineer - Logistical Network Planning

As Senior Software/Data Engineer - Logistical Network Planning, you ensure a flawless delivery of short- and long-term logistical network plans. These plans should be built with accurate and reliable data for stakeholders to ensure an optimally aligned plan that meets customer demand with logistical capacity. As an engineer in the Network Planning team, you will design, support and implement scalable solutions for these logistical network plans. A complex puzzle to solve together with team members including both engineers and data scientists. Ultimately, your involvement and technical skills will determine the accuracy and usefulness of the network plans, thereby directly contributing to key organizational goals.

What you will do as a software/data engineer Network Planning

You are expected to write clean, maintainable code with solid test coverage and advocate for best practices in software design. Code reviews will be a regular part of your routine, not just to keep quality high, but also to share knowledge. You’ll build and fine-tune data pipelines in Apache Airflow, keeping things running smoothly while making sure model jobs execute efficiently. Keeping an eye on cloud workloads, jumping in when issues arise, and optimizing SQL queries and Python memory will be part of the role. You’ll also focus on making life easier for process analysts and data scientists by ensuring a good user experience. You will collaborate with other teams to help shape the technical direction of projects.

We are looking for a senior engineer with a keen eye for delivering robust solutions and improving newly discovered functionalities for network plans. Overview of required hard skills:

• Strong experience with workflow orchestration, for example Apache Airflow
• Strong experience with data transformations and modeling, for example dbt
• Experience in Python
• Solid background in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud
• Experience working with tools such as Prometheus, Kibana and Grafana

Where you'll be working

The Network Planning team is responsible for creating optimal logistical network plans for warehouses by balancing customer demand against available capacity, costs and distribution. The team consists of four engineers and four data scientists who together define accurate network plans that stakeholders use for different purposes, such as allocating stock to warehouses. The Network Planning team is part of Capacity Steering, a domain within the Core Logistics II area within bol.
