Head of Unit (AD 9) for Council’s Unit ORG.1.E "Healthcare and Social Services"

The General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union (GSC) is recruiting a Head of Unit for its Healthcare and Social Services Unit, which is responsible for supporting staff health and wellbeing within a positive working environment, and providing medical standby services during summits and high-level events.

Holding a degree in medicine, psychology or equivalent is a requirement for this post.

Your role

• Manage the Unit and its resources, organise its activities and support and motivate staff in their work.
• Provide expert advice for various areas with an impact on the whole organisation, for example on duty of care and prevention of psycho-social risks.
• Shape and deliver high-quality health and social services, ensuring strong collaboration within the Directorate and across the organization.
• Provide support and coordination in situation concerning individual staff or teams to ensure coherence of the medical and the administrative realm in full respect of the medical secrecy.
• Ensure smooth running of Unit’s services responsible for providing medical support and psychosocial assistance; ensuring management of medical absences and support for return to work; and providing social services including ensuring childcare services for GSC staff and preparation for retirement.
