The internship

As the Contracting & Procurement (C&P) Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about the organisation's governance, risk, and compliance environment and be part of the Global Risk and Compliance Team in The Hague. This team is responsible for maintaining and improving SNV standards and operational policy and risk frameworks, as well as steering risk, support, and monitoring on legal, tax, donor contracts, supplier procurement and contracting, project execution, country logistics, and SNV’s Carbon Reduction Strategy.

You will work on a variety of projects and tasks that will draw on your organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage data and processes effectively. In particular, you will support the tracking and administration of procurement activities, contribute to reporting and dashboard development, and provide assistance with contract management and other procurement-related workflows.

Your tasks and activities will align with your specific learning objectives, ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience. Ongoing guidance and support will be provided to help you achieve your goals.

They can include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Procurement Tracker as a continuous improvement project, ensuring accurate and timely capture of key data points such as submission and completion timelines, procurement approaches, thresholds, and purchase order (PO) creation milestones.
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the contract register by systematically capturing and structuring information on Framework Agreements (FWAs) and other contractual arrangements to improve data accessibility and compliance oversight.
  • Assist in the development of KPI monitoring tools and dashboards by compiling and analysing procurement data, contributing to insights on areas such as sourcing methods, service delivery timelines, invoice compliance, including invoices without POs, and use of standard templates, while also supporting country-level reporting requests.
  • Participate in procurement transparency initiatives by supporting the publication of tender opportunities on the SNV tender portal.
  • Contribute to global reporting exercises through the preparation and consolidation of SAP-based datasets, including supplier onboarding, such as small-value supplier creation, and roster-related analysis.
  • Support knowledge management and process documentation projects by organizing, updating, and improving internal procurement resources, guidelines, and training materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and support the design and implementation of workflow improvements within procurement and compliance practices.
  • Provide cross-functional project and administrative support, contributing to the overall effectiveness, accuracy, and continuous improvement of procurement operations.

Qualifications

Requirements for the internship

  • This internship is open to students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's program at an accredited Dutch university in a financial, legal, or supply chain field. Proof of enrolment will be required, and the university must facilitate the internship with a university supervisor or mentor identified.
  • The intern must have the legal right to reside in the Netherlands for the full period of the internship. SNV does not sponsor visas or permits for interns.

What you will bring

  • Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus, such as French or Portuguese.
  • Experience in generating visually compelling graphs and reports that simplify complex data.
  • Proficiency with Excel will be an advantage.
  • A curious, self-motivated individual who works well in a team.
  • Skilled in deconstructing problems and systematically investigating their components and solutions.
  • Good understanding of or interest in procurement processes, supplier management, and contract administration.
  • Registration and enrolment in an accredited Dutch university for the duration of the internship, preferably in supply chain management, procurement, legal, finance, or business economics.

  • Internship agreement for 4 to a maximum of 6 months.
  • Allowance of gross €500 per month based on a 40-hour workweek, pro-rated to part-time hours.
