Join our team! We are responsible for managing the high-load mission critical front door (API management system) for TomTom’s online products and hence are key to customer experience. We drive improving the quality of the service and aim to enable self-service for our users through system engineering and software development. This internship is designed for last-year students with a potential to become a full-time employee over the course of 6-12 months.

What you'll do

  • As an SE/SRE intern you will learn to treat operational issues as software problems. You will work on addressing reliability, availability, scalability, efficiency for your team, and the rest of the company.
  • You will learn how high load systems are scaled and increase their reliability in a diverse evolving environment.
  • You will learn by example and contribute to the architecture, design, and implementation of new and existing systems to enhance their reliability, efficiency, scalability, and enable new business features.
  • You will contribute to mission critical systems with 99.9+% availability.
  • You will contribute to problem management and internal product support processes.
  • You will support navigation tooling in the world.

What you'll need

  • Proficiency in at least one compiled language, preferably Golang.
  • Basic experience with Kubernetes, for example when deploying any non-production application.
  • Good knowledge of HTTP protocol.
  • Good understanding of Unix/Linux systems and typical usage cases.
  • Security, privacy, and compliance essentials.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Study related to software engineering.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with at least one public cloud platform, preferably Azure or AWS.
  • Software architecture essentials for distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud-native architecture, technology, engineering, and operations based on CNCF tools.
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD technologies, source code management (GitHub), pipelines, secrets, and artefacts.
  • Experience working on study or personal projects.
