Where you’ll be working

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team of backend engineers, frontend developers, a Product Owner, and a Scrum Master. The team collaborates closely with multiple teams across the Area to deliver seamless digital experiences.

Your work will directly impact global platforms used daily by customers and internal users — at scale.

You and your job

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll design and build the services that power our search platform. You’ll:

• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Configure and improve our Elastic platform integration
• Design and maintain RESTful APIs that power search experiences
• Work on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and automation
• Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders
• Ensure high-quality delivery through testing and monitoring
• Contribute to the evolution of search by integrating hybrid search, vector search, and GenAI capabilities
• Help ensure solutions meet compliance and data protection standards

You’ll be hands-on with both the technical foundation and the innovation layer of our platform.

Must-have skills and experience

• 4+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and building REST APIs
• Solid experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD pipelines, Boards)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices
• Strong testing mindset with JUnit and Mockito
• Proficiency with Git
• Experience with search engines and modern search architectures
• Familiarity with vector search, LLMs, or generative AI concepts
• Understanding of software quality, performance, and scalability

Nice to haves

• Experience with Cloud Foundry
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch
• Experience working with Kafka
