E013/2025/EXB Information gathering methods, international cooperation & cyber-related crimes

This training aims to inform law enforcement officials about obtaining information from service providers in Lithuania and Finland and to highlight the importance of international cooperation in combatting cross-border crimes in cyber investigations.

This session will inform participants about comparative police organisation, judicial systems and practices observed during the CEPOL Exchange Programme 2025, as well as sharing experience during the exchange, focusing on the similarities and differences found between Romania and Spain.

By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:

• Enhance general knowledge and understanding of the European law enforcement community in obtaining information from service providers, including challenges and problems that arise during information requests;
• Strengthen the understanding of the necessity for international collaboration and sharing of information, good practices, investigation methods and technologies, with a focus on the CEPOL Exchange Programme's contribution;
• Understand information request channels to combat cross-border crimes;
• Enhance general knowledge and understanding of cross-border cybercrimes, challenges and problems of cyber investigations;
• Understand the structure of the Romanian and Spanish police units responsible for combatting cybercrime, at both central and local levels;
• Enhance knowledge about the best practices identified in the Spanish judicial system (Minerva, fingerprinting done via livescan, Sidenpol, Sitel, Lexnet);
• Understand the national legal frameworks on cybercrime both in Spain and Romania, highlighting legislation similarities and differences;
• Identify the role of the prosecutor in the Romanian and Spanish criminal justice systems, especially in the criminal investigation phase.
