Embedded Software Internship

At Nedap, within the Security business unit, you will work on the next generation of access readers that bridge the physical and digital world.

For this internship or graduation project, you will help explore and implement a modern standard for mobile access on embedded platforms. Smartphones are increasingly replacing traditional access cards, creating new possibilities for secure and user-friendly access management.

You will investigate how this technology works at protocol and embedded level, analyse the security implications, and translate specifications into a reliable implementation on the hardware. From architecture and embedded software development to validation and testing, you will be involved throughout the entire process.

This is an opportunity to work on a real product that combines embedded software, wireless communication, and security.

What are you going to do?

• Analyse protocol specifications and translate them into a technical design.
• Develop software for embedded platforms in C.
• Implement and validate security mechanisms.
• Integrate new functionality into existing reader software and hardware.
• Test and validate the implementation.
• Document technical decisions, architecture, and results.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers while independently driving parts of the project.

Your team

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on secure and scalable access management solutions.

You will work together with experienced embedded software engineers who enjoy sharing knowledge and challenging ideas. The team values ownership, curiosity, and experimentation. You will have the freedom to shape your own approach while contributing to products used worldwide.

Required skills

• You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• You have experience with C/C++ and embedded software development.
• You are interested in security and secure communication.
• You enjoy exploring and deeply understanding new technologies.
• Experience with wireless communication technologies such as NFC or BLE is a plus.
• You are proactive, analytical, and comfortable working independently.
