What are you going to do?

At Nedap, data plays a critical role in the products used every day by healthcare professionals, dairy farmers, retailers, and security teams worldwide. As Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the foundation of our private and public cloud data services, focusing on the operational lifecycle of our data platforms and how they are consumed by application teams.

Together, we build and maintain robust data services to empower our application teams within Nedap to deliver great products. We tackle the unique challenges that come with operating at an enterprise scale, always engineering for the long term.

Our goal is to offer our developers an experience that surpasses standard public cloud providers. This means looking beyond individual team requests to understand what patterns can thrive across our company operating in several completely different markets, each with its own unique characteristics. Within our DevOps culture, we collaborate to build for the future, not just for tomorrow.

We are looking for passionate engineers who love to dive deep into data infrastructure, who care about developer experience, and who want to build instead of keeping the lights on.

Your responsibilities

Operate and Maintain

Run, configure, monitor and optimize data services at enterprise scale across both public and private cloud environments.

Automate and Deploy

Build automated pipelines and manage configurations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) across the entire service lifecycle.

Scale and Resiliency

Design for high availability, manage disaster recovery, and ensure our services scale efficiently as platform demand grows.

Your team

As Data Platform Engineer, you will join the Data Services team of the Nedap Tech Platform. In the Data Services team there is a Product Owner, a Tech Lead and multiple Data Services Specialists.

As a team, we offer reliable, scalable, and developer-friendly data services in a productized way. Because nowadays data is key to success, we play a vital role across the company by providing deep expertise in data operations, usage, and insights. We closely collaborate with specialists both inside and outside our team to share knowledge, challenge each other to continuously improve our platform, and support Nedap’s growth. Ultimately, our mission is to maximize the positive impact for the customers who rely on our products across all the markets Nedap operates in.

What's in it for you?

As a Data Platform Engineer at Nedap, you will make a valuable contribution to our goal: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. In addition to your salary, you are entitled to a thirteenth month, a good pension scheme, and profit sharing with the opportunity to become a shareholder of Nedap. At Nedap, everything revolves around trust and autonomy. That’s why, along with your colleagues, you decide on your own working hours and vacation days to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also highly value personal and professional growth. You will receive a comprehensive introduction, and we encourage you to continuously develop yourself.

Required skills

This role as Data Platform Engineer requires a long-term mindset. So that means we are looking for people who want a long-term engagement, comfortable thriving in a diverse environment where a little bit of chaos is part of the fun.

You also recognise yourself in the following:

  • Tech Foundations: Solid Linux experience and an Automation/Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset.
  • Database Experience: Experience with MySQL/MariaDB/PostgreSQL, with deep knowledge in at least one of them.
  • Enterprise scale: Proven experience working at an enterprise scale of operations.
  • Nice to have: High-level expertise in MySQL / MariaDB.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Redis, or Kafka.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English, and Dutch is a plus.

Good to know: Hybrid (remote) working is common practice at Nedap, and you can coordinate your working hours with your team to achieve a good work-life balance. We are primarily looking for candidates located within one hour of the Central European time zone and eligible to work within the EU, preferably in The Netherlands with the option to be present in our office now and then.
