Boston Consulting Group is seeking a Workplace Operations Manager to lead daily operations for its Amsterdam office and help create a high-quality experience for employees and visiting clients.

The purpose of this newly created role in the LAB Operations Team is to create a great place to work for Amsterdam employees and visiting clients. The Amsterdam office is a key office in the LAB system, with a focus on creating a thriving hub for Amsterdam-based employees as well as visiting employees from London and Brussels.

This role is responsible for leading the delivery and optimization of a portfolio of best-in-class services and facilities at the local level, catering for local requirements while ensuring parity with other LAB offices and encouraging inter-LAB mobility.

The office has recently moved to a new building in 2025, and the Workplace Operations Manager will be tasked with operationalizing the building and making the most of its assets, with a continuous improvement mindset, to create a great employee and client experience.

The Workplace Operations Manager will work closely with the Office Leader for Amsterdam and local leadership to support delivery of local goals for the office environment and employee experience, as well as with the LAB Operations Senior Director and the rest of the LAB Operations Leadership Team to deliver LAB-wide projects and improvements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Leadership of the day-to-day operations for the Amsterdam office

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of all local services and facilities to a high standard, including Reception, Catering, Cleaning, M&E, and Logistics.
  • Manage in-house teams, Amsterdam vendor contracts, and on-site vendor teams, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are adhered to and the highest levels of service delivery are maintained, with coaching where required to improve performance.
  • Continuously improve the local office environment, services, facilities, and employee and visiting client experiences.
  • Exercise sound commercial judgment and effectively track and manage all services within agreed Opex budgets, as well as local Capex project budgets, liaising with local and LAB Finance teams where required and conducting regular budget reconciliation meetings as needed.
  • Manage communications and engagement with the Amsterdam landlord and respective teams to ensure a strong and collaborative relationship.

Health & Safety (HSE) and Compliance

  • Serve as HS&E lead and responsible person on-site, including internal mandatory training, risk assessment, DSEs, and accident and near-miss investigation, supported by H&S consultants and Compliance/Auditing.
  • Act as an active member of the Incident Response Team, regularly updating documentation and organizing bi-annual table-top exercises to ensure systems and processes are robust and well maintained.
  • Ensure the office is compliant with regulatory requirements and that systems and processes are maintained in line with regulatory changes and BCG policy.

FOH/Events & Meetings Management

  • Manage the delivery of front-of-house and reception services to a high standard for all visitors and employees.
  • Oversee the delivery of all events and meetings within the Amsterdam office, working closely with internal stakeholders, building reception, and IT/AV to ensure a seamless visitor journey and strong technology experience.
  • Work in partnership with the Director, Employee & Client Services, and team to ensure a world-class front-of-house experience consistent with LAB-wide standards, and high-quality events and meeting services for employees and clients on-site and off-site.

Management and Leadership of Amsterdam Operations Team

  • Develop a high-performing team of local resources and vendor personnel and grow capability as required with BCG or vendor resources to meet site demands.
  • Define clear roles and responsibilities within the operations team, ensuring accountability, ownership, and strong cross-team collaboration, including partnership with local BST teams such as IT/AV and HR.
  • Participate in onboarding and induction of new joiners to BCG, including office tours and presentations.
  • As a key member of the LAB Leadership Team, build strong relationships with peers and contribute positively to LAB-wide activities, discussions, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with Brussels and London counterparts, sharing best practices and ensuring high-quality standards are maintained across all LAB offices.

Project Management

  • Own and deliver business improvement projects and office programs across Amsterdam, including business continuity planning, incident response, contributions to large-scale office programs across LAB when required, and rollout of new technologies across all three sites.

Data Reporting & Analysis

  • Track key operational metrics such as local attendance and space utilization to provide leadership with a detailed view of real estate investments and employee behaviors, while enabling aggregation of LAB-level management dashboard data.

What You'll Bring
