As Global Head of Wholesale Segment Strategy (WSS), you lead Rabobank’s central strategy capability for the Wholesale & Rural (W&R) domain. You are accountable for setting clear strategic direction, orchestrating strategic priorities across regions, sectors and products, and enabling disciplined steering on the Risk–Return–Sustainability (RRS) triangle.

You operate at the heart of decision-making, acting as a trusted sparring partner to the Global Head of Clients & Portfolio Management. Together with your team, you ensure that strategy is forward-looking, fact-based and executable, and that it translates into clear choices, priorities and trade-offs for the business.

Most important responsibilities

  • Set and steer the W&R commercial strategy and long-term vision for the business internationally, in close collaboration with various entities.
  • Identify and support new business development opportunities, and provide strategic direction on key transitions, including Food & Agri, Clean Energy and Financial Institutions.
  • Act as central orchestrator and serve as a strategic partner to the Global Head of Clients & Portfolio Management, providing actionable recommendations on complex topics and trade-offs.
  • Lead a rolling strategy cycle, with quarterly reviews of strategic performance, priorities and portfolio focus.
  • Translate long-term strategy into a clear roadmap and year plan, with a predictable cadence, priorities and deliverables.
  • Represent Wholesale at conferences, strategic events, and with external stakeholders, acting as a spokesperson for the business.
  • Monitor trends and developments in Food & Agri, Energy Transition, and the Dutch Wholesale market, bringing an outside-in perspective to the bank.
  • Lead the Wholesale Segment Strategy Team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.

As a senior leader within Rabobank, you combine deep strategic expertise with strong commercial banking experience, senior leadership and stakeholder management skills. You have a proven ability to develop, challenge and refine strategy in complex, international environments, and to translate longterm strategic ambitions into clear choices, priorities and executable roadmaps.

You drive a growth culture for optimizing the results of W&R. Stakeholder management and extensive knowledge and understanding wholesale banking are clearly essential for the role of Global Head of Wholesale Segment Strategy.

A coaching mind-set comes naturally to you. As a leader within Rabobank you take responsibility, facilitate and inspire the team and actively seek collaboration within W&R and the regions.

In addition, it's important that you recognise everything in the checklist below:

  • Higher university qualification in a related discipline.
  • Proven track record in senior level strategy roles, preferably in complex, international financial environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the wholesale banking sector, including strategic positioning, risk management, economic, industry, financial and sustainability topics.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the financial industry, including senior management roles.
  • Proven experience in change management and leading diverse, international teams.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across various business units and regions.
  • Demonstrated success in setting a high-performance culture and engaging teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proven experience in strategy development.
