Are you an experienced people manager with a strong operational mindset and a passion for maritime workforce management? Do you thrive in a dynamic international environment where no two days are the same? Then this role within Van Oord’s Ship Management Department could be your next step. As Manager Crewing Dredging & Infra, you play a key role in ensuring our global fleet is supported by the right people at the right time. Together with your team, you contribute directly to the continuity, safety and success of our international operations.

The position

As Manager Crewing, you are responsible for leading and further developing the crew management activities for one of our two Business Units, Dredging & Infra. Together with your team and colleagues supporting Offshore Energy, you ensure the availability of skilled, motivated and compliant marine crew for our global projects and fleet operations.

You oversee strategic workforce planning and ensure crew operations run smoothly and efficiently while balancing operational continuity, employee wellbeing and business objectives. You also ensure that all crew documentation, licenses and training continuously comply with international regulations such as STCW and MLC.

In this position, you work closely with operational stakeholders, project teams and external partners worldwide. You contribute to a future ready crewing organisation that supports both operational excellence and employee development.

Your impact

As Manager Crewing, you lead and develop an international team of Crewing Officers and Pool Managers. You ensure efficient and compliant crew planning and mobilisation for global operations and safeguard the timely processing of crew administration, payroll input, travel arrangements and visa and work permit requirements.

You work closely together with your colleagues within the team, Fleet Management, operational departments and project management teams while maintaining strong relationships with international recruitment and staffing agencies. In addition, you monitor staffing demand, crew availability and mobilisation forecasts using BI and workforce planning tools.

You contribute to the long term workforce strategy and crew vision within the Ship Management Department and continuously drive improvements within crew coordination processes, systems and business applications. You also ensure compliance with operational, training and certification requirements so vessels remain continuously staffed with compliant and properly certified crew members.

As a manager, you create an environment where people feel supported, empowered and accountable. You coach your team members in their professional development and encourage collaboration across teams and departments to strengthen communication, knowledge sharing and operational performance.

About you

You are a strong connector who combines strategic thinking with a hands on mentality. You know how to manage operational complexity, drive improvements and motivate international teams in a dynamic environment.

In addition, you:

  • Have a higher vocational or academic working and thinking level
  • Have several years of experience in a managerial role
  • Have at least 5 years of experience within Crewing, HR or workforce management in a maritime or international operational environment, including compliant and certified vessel manning
