Job description

For the Amsterdam office in the Netherlands, Tradin Organic is looking for a Trader Cocoa / Sugar.

The Trader Cocoa / Sugar is the linking pin between suppliers, key customers, and the commercial team. You are responsible for the trading activities and commercial performance of your products. You take commercial positions and play a role in coordinating activities with regional sales offices and the USA branch office. In addition, you are responsible for co-managing the trading book, position exposure, and potentially the futures account. Your high energy, drive, creativity, and outstanding communication skills will help further develop the business and achieve continued growth. The Trader works at the CS desk, which consists of the categories Sugars, Cocoa, and Sweeteners.

What you’ll bring

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in commerce/international trade; an agricultural diploma is a big plus
• 5+ years of experience in a comparable function
• Affinity with ingredients or agricultural commodities
• Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate concisely with all levels of the organization and executive teams
• Experience in an import/export environment and successful customer service experience
• Up-to-date relevant legal knowledge (trade and liability related)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Stress resistance, flexibility, prioritization skills, and decisiveness
• Understanding of the world of commodities; experience with terminal markets is a plus
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is a must; command of Dutch, German, Spanish, or other languages is a plus
• IT affinity: advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs; experience with ERP systems, including SAP, and the organic industry are a plus

What we’re looking for

• Coordinate contacts and provide pricing updates, market reports, and related information with regional sales offices (US, UK, France, DACH)
• Oversee product complaint handling and ensure optimal customer satisfaction
• Co-oversee the sourcing, purchase, and sales of the products
• Participate in setting budgets for cocoa and sugar products
• Keep track of international market developments and actively seek new trade opportunities and product developments
• Keep track of results and suggest appropriate corrective action plans
• Ensure suppliers meet vendor approval criteria in alignment with the Quality Assurance Manager
• Visit customers and suppliers regularly and participate in relevant assemblies and trade shows
• Contribute to smooth cooperation with supporting disciplines
• Regularly update sales and purchasing policy communicated to the sales teams in the Netherlands and abroad
• Contribute to the further structuring of the Business Unit
