Join GKN Aerospace Careers in the Engineering department of GKN Aerospace's EWIS solutions (Fokker Elmo), where you will apply your theoretical background, experience, interests and ambitions to the development of future Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems for sustainable aircraft.

Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) have become increasingly important as part of the More Electric Aircraft, and today the journey to full Electric and Hybrid-Electric aircraft adds a new chapter to their technological significance. This includes both High Voltage High Power (HVHP) EWIS developments as well as disruptive technologies for the transmission of low voltage data signals.

Job Summary

As an EWIS Engineer Component Design, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, validation and verification activities on Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) components and constructions (component assemblies). This may involve performing trade-off studies, advising on selection of components, component and construction qualification, writing technical reports, and working together with Senior Design Engineers.

In this role, you will be involved in the creation of test plans, test samples, execution of testing in the in-house facility, and reporting. Currently, the team is expanding its knowledge in the area of high voltage/high power EWIS for (hybrid) electric aircraft applications.

You will report to the Centre of Competence Manager – EWIS Components and Environmental Testing (ECE) and will take guidance and direction on a project basis from the Technical Lead (Senior Engineer) and/or Engineering Team Lead (ETL) of the ECE design engineering team.
