Within ENGIE’s Global Business Unit Supply & Energy Management (GBU S&EM), Supply Portfolio Management (SPM) plays a vital role in modeling and hedging energy risks for client portfolios. The Senior Data Scientist - Data Modeling & Quality role sits in the Supply Portfolio Management organization, which is evolving from locally fragmented teams toward a more centralized and harmonized approach.

  • Establishing a central SPM entity to develop consistent methods and tools
  • Building a collaborative, cross-geography SPM community
  • Supporting career growth for portfolio managers
  • Promoting best practices and unified risk representation
  • Implementing scalable, automated systems for improved forecasting, pricing, and contract management

Within SPM, the transversal domain TrueWatts is responsible for gathering people in charge of actual consumption management, sharing good practices, building expertise on data modeling and grid error management, and designing MPD features while supporting deployment. MPD is the product dedicated to metering data management at ENGIE.

This domain is composed of several operational Middle Offices, in charge of certifying actual volumes for balancing and billing across all Supply processes by leveraging MPD.

The core product team is a small data science team responsible for designing core features that will be industrialized by MPD IT teams. These features address grid data imperfections such as holes in time series and inconsistencies between sources.

Scope of the team’s work

  • Support grid data imperfections such as holes in time series and inconsistencies between sources
  • Detect inconsistency patterns
  • Develop correction algorithms
  • Settle a common framework used across all B2B countries

About the TrueWatts Team within SPM

The TrueWatts domain is a dynamic and cross-functional team within Supply Portfolio Management, dedicated to actual consumption management. Its mission is to bring together experts from Middle Offices to certify actual consumption volumes for balancing and billing across every Supply process.

The team plays a pivotal role in designing and deploying the MPD metering data management product for ENGIE, supporting implementation by developing innovative features and sharing best practices across operational Middle Offices.

At the core of TrueWatts is a focused data science team that creates and refines foundational algorithms powering the MPD curation pack. The team tackles gaps in time series data, inconsistencies between sources, and other grid data imperfections, from detecting inconsistency patterns to building correction algorithms, while establishing a robust framework applied across ENGIE’s B2B operations worldwide.

Joining TrueWatts means being part of an innovative and collaborative environment where your contributions will directly improve energy data reliability and help shape green and competitive offers. The role is suited to someone motivated by solving complex data challenges and making a tangible impact on the energy sector.

Role

As senior data scientist in the core business team of the TrueWatts domain, you will:

  • Identify and analyze patterns of inconsistencies across the various available data sources.
  • Develop and implement algorithms to correct detected inconsistencies.
  • Design and deploy operational quality monitoring dashboards for use by Middle Offices.
  • Work daily to enable Middle Offices to effectively fulfill their responsibilities across different Supply processes, including forecasting, pricing, billing, closing, customer care, balancing, and billing certification.
  • Support the industrialization of data processing solutions developed by the business team in collaboration with IT teams.
