Application Engineer I

As an Engineer I, you'll be developing financial products that will shape the future of how businesses manage their finances. Along with expanding into new markets and handling an increasing volume of transactions, Mollie has recently introduced exciting new products. You’ll have the opportunity to bring your ideas to life and contribute to these.

Your Opportunity:

What you will be doing:

• Help us design and engineer systems that can scale to manage high volumes of transactions efficiently and effectively.
• Iterate from an idea to the final solution, shaping, building, testing, and measuring the performance of the features our customers love.
• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Mollie’s engineering teams.
• Lead technical initiatives from architecture design to implementation, ensuring engineering excellence throughout the process.
• Utilize your creative problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to resolve complex issues and contribute to our mission of making financial processes effortless.
• Own the code quality and engineering excellence and best practices of our systems.

What you will bring:

• Always Be Shipping mindset: It’s about consistently delivering value to customers, where speed and quality go hand in hand.
• 2+ years of experience in developing large-scale applications, preferably with PHP or Java. Experience with Go, C#, or Python is also valued but you are willing to work with PHP or Java.
• Experience in designing systems and handling queuing, caching, concurrency, fault tolerance and scalability.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience working effectively with various stakeholders. Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to shape ideas with a product-first approach, as well as analyse and resolve complex issues.
