What you will be doing:
Research and analysis
- Source data and information from internal or external subject matter experts as required.
- Determine and drive the divisional need for research as well as methods and procedures to be used.
- Conduct systematic in-depth research and analysis into issues of varying complexity within the technical or technological area of expertise.
- Initiate, define and lead the development and communication of effective reports to key stakeholders, including executive and senior management.
Technical expertise
- Develop and maintain broad and in-depth knowledge of relevant FedEx standards, external requirements, including US/EMEA regulations, and current or emerging system trends and best practices within the area of expertise.
- Provide strategic advice on complex or unique issues.
- Develop new or innovative solutions to diverse, high-impact, complex problems.
- Conduct detailed analysis and wider research, interpret complex information and generate recommendations to support strategic, divisional or corporate goals.
- Develop initiatives, proposals and business cases within the area of expertise.
- Act as subject matter expert and share knowledge with peers and management.
Maximising opportunities
- Proactively identify and analyse risks, opportunities and constraints within the area of expertise.
- Evaluate and present recommendations and actions, driving management decisions in high-impacting cost yield management areas.
- Lead and/or contribute to implementation to ensure results are realised.
Project management
- Lead high-impact, divisional and corporate-level projects and initiatives.
- Manage cross-functional project teams and involve internal and external SMEs as required.
- Seek commitment from senior and executive management to project goals.
- Complete post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and recommend corrective actions.
Processes and procedures
- Develop and communicate tools and processes for use by the wider business within the area of expertise.
- Recommend improvements to processes as required.
- Develop, communicate and enforce department policies and procedures.
Planning
- Identify, initiate and drive goal-setting and planning activities.
- Coordinate cross-functionally and across divisions to validate, negotiate, consolidate and communicate goals.
- Develop and present business plans for the division or complex regional areas to senior and executive management.
- Critically review business cases and plans across regions and divisions and identify leverage opportunities and cross-project dependencies.
- Advise the Senior and Executive team of trends, changes and developments within the area of expertise, along with recommended actions.
Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with defined FedEx processes and procedures, relevant legislation and external regulations, and predefined agreements.
- Review policies or standards to ensure compliance or design new policies and standards if appropriate.
Alignments
- Build and develop effective relationships with senior and executive management to influence optimal business outcomes and with other departments to achieve set goals.
- Maintain external alignments with customers, relevant subject matter experts or external bodies as required.
- Represent the company in external organizations.
