About Demcon

Demcon High-Tech Systems delivers high-quality, technically challenging multidisciplinary designs and implementations for solutions to societal challenges in the high-tech systems markets of Semicon (Front-end, Back-end, Photonics and Quantum), Defence and Nuclear (including Fusion).

What are you going to do?

In this role, you will be responsible for systematically developing and expanding new business within the High Tech Systems market. You will operate at the intersection of technology, market and strategy, and work directly with systems engineers, project managers and senior management to drive sustainable growth. Your work is not about quick deals, but about identifying and developing technological opportunities that align with the long-term positioning of DEMCON High Tech Systems.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the long-term Business Development plan and the associated commercial strategy in existing and new markets (on a 3-month cycle), based on the unique strengths of Demcon HTS.
  • Identifying sub-markets.
  • Compiling a list of potentially attractive sub-markets.
  • Business development in these sub-markets (securing leads and projects).
  • Responsible for business development and securing sufficient new projects within a number of market segments, with the aim of generating solid turnover in the HTS market segments. Builds and manages the lead development pipeline.
  • Identifies, investigates and develops future business development opportunities in close collaboration with systems engineers and the relevant Managing Director for strategic accounts.
  • Able to develop and maintain relationships at C-level.
  • Responsible for client relations with existing and potential clients, with the aim of building long-term strategic client relationships. Maintains client contact from start to delivery, in collaboration with project managers. Acts as key account manager for a number of clients.
  • Develops the value proposition for a specific client group, leading to a successful client strategy. Generates new leads that align with this strategy and oversees the process from initial contact through to signed contract. Translates client requirements into a comprehensive project proposal in close collaboration with project managers and systems engineers.
  • Collaborates with other business developers on the development of new markets.

This should strike a healthy balance between sowing (long-term strategy) and reaping (short-term results).

Position within the organisation

Works closely with the Managing Director, project managers and system engineers, as well as with colleagues at our own and other sites. Is an associate member of the Management Team at Demcon High Tech Systems Eindhoven and reports to the Managing Director of Demcon HTS Eindhoven.

What do you bring to the table?

Educational requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need a completed master’s degree in a technical field, and you must be able to independently carry out an initial analysis of the client’s problem statement, so that you can then assemble the rest of the sales team and, together, convince the client of our proposition.

Work experience

  • University-level working and thinking ability and at least 5 years’ commercial work experience at a technical company.
  • Experience in high-tech product development is an advantage.

Skills and abilities

  • Knowledge of the high-tech market.
  • Strong commercial acumen: able to accurately assess the client and opportunities for Demcon.
  • Skilled at identifying new opportunities, technology trends and spotting market trends.
  • Skilled at approaching new customers and seeking out new opportunities.
  • Goal-oriented, energetic and a hands-on approach.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Dutch and English. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel (internationally).
