How you can make your mark

Boskalis offers a unique environment where maritime expertise, operational excellence and project delivery come together — both at sea and onshore.

As an Operations Manager - Marine Services, you will manage the operation of a group of vessels during all phases of projects. The pool of 34 vessels consists of Anchor Handling Tugs, Construction Support Vessels as well as Ocean towing vessels. You will be the client interface for both internal as well as external clients operating in the renewables and O&G sectors.

In this role, you are responsible for keeping your assigned vessel(s) fully operational and project ready at all times. The role focuses primarily on the management of DP-2 and DP-3 Construction Support Vessels equipped with subsea cranes ranging from 100–600T, ROV systems, AHC winches, moonpools and specialized subsea tooling. Your responsibilities include managing the right crewing setup for various projects, ensuring technical and operational readiness for upcoming projects, managing the vessel’s financial performance during execution, and ensuring compliance with contractual guidelines throughout charter periods. You work closely with internal stakeholders such as Fleet, Crewing, Commercial and Engineering to align operational execution with project and contract requirements. While the role is primarily focused on operational delivery, you also act as a key point of contact for clients on operational matters during project execution, ensuring clear communication, expectation management, and timely resolution of operational challenges. Through this balanced interaction with both internal teams and external clients, you safeguard reliable vessel operations and contribute to successful project outcomes.

Your responsibilities

As a Project Operations Manager, you are responsible for the operational execution of vessel charters and projects, including:

  • Managing the execution of charters and projects for multiple Construction Support Vessels within the Marine Services fleet
  • Acting as the primary client interface for operational matters during project execution
  • Coordinating closely with vessels and internal departments (Fleet, Crewing, Commercial, Engineering) to meet contractual and operational requirements
  • Overseeing vessel-specific technical readiness including DP trials, subsea crane and AHC maintenance, ROV and LARS readiness, moonpool operations, and pre-mobilization load-out and sea fastening
  • Optimizing project results by adapting sailing strategies, vessel utilization, and operational planning during execution
  • Supporting the Commercial department during the pre-contract phase by providing operational input and feasibility assessments
  • Visiting vessels during mobilization and demobilization campaigns to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective execution
  • Ensuring compliance with class, statutory and industry standards for CSV operations, and coordinating certification, spares provisioning and planned maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Managing operational risks associated with chartering activities, including subsea lifting, subsea installation, cable laying, and diving support, and ensuring the vessel is technically fit for purpose, with appropriate crew competencies and training in place
  • Motivating and ensuring that all works are executed following the No Injuries No Accidents rules and values, in accordance with the Way of Working principles

What you bring

  • You have a strong maritime engineering background, and you want to transition into an onshore role while staying close to vessel operations and take on responsibilities such as contract executions and financial management
  • You are an experienced vessel manager or operations manager with hands-on experience in chartering and operating complex Construction Support Vessels, including DP operations, heavy-lift crane management, and subsea installation campaigns
  • You have practical experience with ROV operations, AHC systems, moonpool procedures and reviewing technical details for subsea projects
  • You have experience with leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • You are a strong communicator in Nautical English
  • You are assertive to share your project goals by involving the necessary stakeholders
  • You are analytically strong, and you work with accuracy which allows you to make well-founded decisions, control risks, and deliver safe and efficient operations
  • You are self-starting, remove obstacles, and dare to take calculated risks to achieve the optimal project result

We offer
