Medior/Senior Strategy Consultant – Strategy & Engagement

The COO domain at Rabobank has recently been established as a central, bank-wide function — bringing together capabilities across operations, data, financial economic crime, procurement and facilities. Its mandate is clear: to drive operational integration, simplify the bank, and enable execution at scale. This is a domain in formation, with a new COO, a newly shaped leadership team, and a broad, high-impact agenda across the bank.

We are intentionally building a Strategy team with top-tier consulting capabilities. This means:

• Raising the bar on problem structuring, hypothesis-driven thinking, and story lining
• Bringing clarity and direction in complex, ambiguous environments
• Shifting the organization towards more structured, top-down thinking

You & your role

In the Strategy & Engagement team, you act as a strategic partner to the COO leadership team and key stakeholders across operations and business domains. You are instrumental to turn vision into actionable strategies and support coherent, organization-wide engagement around our priorities. Building on experience gained in a top-tier consulting environment, you will take an active role in shaping the Strategy team into a trusted internal strategy partner—embedding best-in-class consulting methodologies, raising the quality of insights, and developing others through hands-on coaching. This is a role for someone who enjoys both solving the problem and elevating others.

Examples from practice

• Aggregating multiple departmental strategies into one coherent COO-wide strategic narrative.
• Supporting executive decision-making with clear insights, structured problem analyses, and presentations.
• Identify and articulate improvement opportunities across the COO landscape and translate these into actionable initiatives and roadmaps.
• Advise on and support strategic programs that strengthen seamless customer journeys, operational effectiveness and operational resilience.
• Craft compelling narratives, insights, and presentations that help senior stakeholders make informed decisions and engage their teams.
• Lead or contribute to COO-wide strategy cycles, including priority setting, portfolio shaping, and executive reporting.

Since the COO domain has only recently been set-up, you can play a pivotal role in developing the COO domain’s focus from consolidating existing departmental strategies towards steering on a higher level of aggregation.

The team of Strategy & Engagement is part of the Chief of Staff department, acting as a strategic partner and integrator for the COO domain. It consists of a Strategy and a Portfolio Management capability, both composed of a diverse group of specialists committed to clarity, coherence, and meaningful impact. We bring together strategic direction, narrative building, engagement, and organizational alignment.

You & your talent

• 4 to 8 years of experience in top-tier strategy consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or equivalent
• Strong skills in structuring complex problems and developing clear, compelling narratives (non-negotiable)
• Ability to operate in highly dynamic, evolving environments
• Affinity with topics such as process simplification, operating model design, and efficiency
• A mindset of ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement
• A proactive, collaborative attitude and the ability to build trust quickly across a diverse stakeholder field.
