Internship assignment: Designing a unified planning solution for service operations

During this internship, you will support the Service Organization in Veghel in transitioning from multiple fragmented planning tools to one unified solution. You will analyze current planning practices across teams, identify common requirements and pain points, and evaluate existing tools within the organization. Based on your findings, you will propose and help design a scalable, future-proof planning solution that improves transparency, reduces manual effort, and aligns with IT standards.

Department description

The Service Organization in Veghel supports the maintenance and operation of logistics systems. Multiple teams currently use different planning tools, ranging from corporate systems to Excel-based solutions. This fragmented setup creates inefficiencies and limits scalability. The department aims to standardize planning by adopting a unified, maintainable solution aligned with organizational and IT standards.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Map and document current planning approaches and tools across Service teams.
• Interview stakeholders (team leads, planners, engineers) to understand functional needs.
• Identify inefficiencies, risks, and dependencies in the current situation.
• Review existing corporate or departmental planning tools and assess their suitability.
• Define functional and non-functional requirements for a unified planning tool.
• Create a recommendation and high-level implementation roadmap.
• Support a proof of concept or pilot setup in collaboration with IT / key users.

Your profile

• You have strong analytical and communication skills.
• You are comfortable working with data, processes, and stakeholders.
• Affinity with planning tools, process optimization, and digitalization.
• Structured, curious, and capable of working independently.
• Mandatory: Enrolment in a Dutch education system and resident of The Netherlands.
